The Edit: BR is Killing the Shoe Game

Oct 6, 2017

Banana Republic’s clothing selections vacillate between boring and phenomenal, but this season, the shoes are it.  Almost every pair has me saying, “I need that, and that, and that…”.  If you’re looking for a beyond basic work shoe wardrobe, come with me on a journey through the BR shoe section.

Do you know how hard it is to find awesome grey pumps?  But here they are, in all their allegedly-wearable-for-12-hours glory.  Madison Pump ($82).

The Madison pump also comes in this fetching leopard print ($128).  It’s neither too brown or too yellow, making it a rarity in the world of animal print.  I also like the scalloped vamp.

These criss-cross flats ($108) are the solution to the boring black flat.  The style is really adorable, and good with casual dresses or jeans.

Spotted hair-calf is animal print for people who don’t like animal print.  And I love the chunky heel on these Block-Heel pumps ($138) for both stability and walkability.

I bought a pair of Loeffler Randall pumps in this fabric five years ago and wore them out.  These are the perfect replacement.

Do I need a suede block heel, tall boot ($228, also in black leather)?  No, but I want one, I really want one.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
