***

1) Launch your job search with this simple checklist. (Career Contessa)

2) This red Topshop blouse is definitely on my shopping list. It’s so bold.

3) The best apps for people who get distracted at work. (The Muse)

4) I love this adorable little citrus juicer from Anthropologie. Such a cute print.

5) Why starting over may be the best thing for you. (The Everygirl)

6) BR Must Haves: an embroidered polo dress, pale blue trousers, and braided sandals.

7) The Purge Continues: Mickey Drexler out as CEO of J.Crew. (NYTimes)

8) Meet my new favorite sunscreen.  It’s completely sheer and feels weightless.

9) “The Work You Do, The Person You Are.” (New Yorker)

10) This chambray CK dress and this fuchsia Tahari sheath are perfect for the office.

11) The tell-tale signs that you are stressed out. (Marie Claire)

Ooooh! And that sunscreen has a 1 rating on Environmental Working Group! You may have found a unicorn.

  2. Bron says:

Going to check out that sunscreen, although I love my Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF50. Its much lighter than any I’ve tried before, so I’d love to compare the two!

  3. Mary says:

Loved the Toni Morrison essay from The New Yorker. It’s always good to have a reminder that the value of what you do is far greater than the appreciation, or lack thereof, from a boss.

  4. Lindsay says:

Drunk Elephant Umbra is fantastic. I have a sensitivity to chemical sunscreens so finding a product that only uses physical barriers (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) is challenging. I ordered the DE Littles set from Sephora so I am excited to try some of their other products.

  5. Shelley says:

I have tons of cilantro growing in my herb garden so I’m excited to try the honey lime cilantro chicken!

    • Belle says:

A longer marinade really improved the flavor. It was surprisingly quick and tasty. I paired it with rice, guacamole, and some Mexican-style roasted carrots to make a bowl-like creation.

  6. RR says:

I LOVE the drunken elephant night serum. I may need to purchase the entire line, its so awesome.

  7. I appreciate the clothes and skin care tips and I have your recommendations in my closet and bathroom, but what I really come her for is the insightful articles you link. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing what you’re reading with us. I walk between two other social classes in my work as a massage therapist – rich enough for plastic surgery and disadvantaged enough to come to a free clinic for healthcare. I love the advice to do my job for me and remember where I live.

  8. Briana says:

Okay, that book sounded soooo familiar & then I realized I just watched a TedX talk with her! You can watch it here too, if ya want. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwRzjFQa_Og&t=524s

  9. Saramel says:

I was expecting to find the book I’m now reading and was surprised it has a similar title, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. I might have to check the other next. For those who only want physical sunscreen, try Cotz’s Natural Tinted face with SPF 40. The texture is like that of a primer and it saves me a step in the morning. The color is scary out of the tube but it sheers out nicely and it stops that dreaded white cast.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
