What I’m Watching. My Nana raised me on Old Hollywood gossip, so I’m so excited for Feud: Bette & Joan.  Here’s what you need to know before you dive into the show.

What I’m Ordering. These DKNY Fishnet Stay-Up Stockings.

What I’m Drinking. Dirty Lemon. I read this article after the bar exam, in my weakened state, I ordered two cases.

That Ted Baker jacket … swoon. If only I had the extra $350 to spare ….

  2. Caitlin says:

A big HELL YES to the article about friends trying to sell you stuff! I didn’t like it 10 years ago when it was Pampered Chef and Mary Kay parties, and I don’t like it now when it’s facebook invites from people I barely know. I know it’s a good way to make extra cash- several friends have helped put themselves through grad school by selling this kind of stuff- but the random group invites drive me nuts! I’d much rather a real friend say something like, “I’ve decided to start selling (makeup, essential oils, candles, etc.) to help pay for (grad school, stay-at-home lifestyle, new house, whatever). If you’re interested in buying anything, I’d like to invite you to my party/facebook group, but if not, I totally understand!”
If it’s someone I’m actually close to and I don’t want what they’re selling, I’d probably offer to give them a small donation to help meet their goal instead of spending the money on crap I don’t want and them only getting a small percentage of it. If they’re someone who I don’t think would accept a outright donation, I’d frame it a different way, “Oh, I don’t think I need to buy any of that, but let me provide the refreshments for your party! I’d love to help out!”
Just be honest with me- I don’t want to hear the speech about how you’re selling whatever it is because a piece of costume jewelry or a new cutting board “changed your life.”

Number 1 has no link 🙁

    • Belle says:

Of course it doesn’t. I’ll fix it.

      • Anna says:

Ah, I think you included this in a previous list. I distinctly remember being surprised to learn that serif fonts are outdated and that two spaces after a period give away your age. I’ll relent on the former, but I will go to the grave arguing for the aesthetic superiority of the post-period double space.

  4. Stephanie says:

Yes to the MLM article, and countdown until the R&F people find this and start in about how wonderful it is. The hills have eyes.

  5. Sara says:

Oooh, let us know if the Dirty Lemon works/has positive effects! Super curious about it.

Quick Q – going back to DC to visit for my friend’s wedding. I was planning on going to Dry Bar that morning to get my hair done before the wedding, but since I haven’t lived in DC for a few years now (!) I was wondering if any other hair bars have opened up recently that you might recommend over Dry Bar.

  6. Ellen says:

Also interested in your reaction to Dirty Lemon, now that I’ve read the article that pulled you in.

  7. ChicaJord says:

    Please provide a DL review!

  8. I know it is the way of the world these days, but social media is a lot less social. I feel like half the people who like my Instagram are bots. I look at everyone’s Insta feed if they like one of my photos, and so many are 100% commercial. It’s hard to get a recommendation on a product from a friend b/c it’s never “this is good, I tried it” but “OMG I’m OBSESSED with get one now and use coupon code .”

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
