That Ted Baker jacket … swoon. If only I had the extra $350 to spare ….
A big HELL YES to the article about friends trying to sell you stuff! I didn’t like it 10 years ago when it was Pampered Chef and Mary Kay parties, and I don’t like it now when it’s facebook invites from people I barely know. I know it’s a good way to make extra cash- several friends have helped put themselves through grad school by selling this kind of stuff- but the random group invites drive me nuts! I’d much rather a real friend say something like, “I’ve decided to start selling (makeup, essential oils, candles, etc.) to help pay for (grad school, stay-at-home lifestyle, new house, whatever). If you’re interested in buying anything, I’d like to invite you to my party/facebook group, but if not, I totally understand!”
If it’s someone I’m actually close to and I don’t want what they’re selling, I’d probably offer to give them a small donation to help meet their goal instead of spending the money on crap I don’t want and them only getting a small percentage of it. If they’re someone who I don’t think would accept a outright donation, I’d frame it a different way, “Oh, I don’t think I need to buy any of that, but let me provide the refreshments for your party! I’d love to help out!”
Just be honest with me- I don’t want to hear the speech about how you’re selling whatever it is because a piece of costume jewelry or a new cutting board “changed your life.”

Ah, I think you included this in a previous list. I distinctly remember being surprised to learn that serif fonts are outdated and that two spaces after a period give away your age. I’ll relent on the former, but I will go to the grave arguing for the aesthetic superiority of the post-period double space.

Quick Q – going back to DC to visit for my friend’s wedding. I was planning on going to Dry Bar that morning to get my hair done before the wedding, but since I haven’t lived in DC for a few years now (!) I was wondering if any other hair bars have opened up recently that you might recommend over Dry Bar.
I just go to DryBar. But I think there are a couple of Blow bars around.
I’ve been having bad luck at Dry Bar lately.

I know it is the way of the world these days, but social media is a lot less social. I feel like half the people who like my Instagram are bots. I look at everyone’s Insta feed if they like one of my photos, and so many are 100% commercial. It’s hard to get a recommendation on a product from a friend b/c it’s never “this is good, I tried it” but “OMG I’m OBSESSED with get one now and use coupon code .”
