State of the Blog: Raising the Bar

Feb 6, 2017

There are two weeks until the bar exam.  This would be known as ‘crunch time.’  And, of course, just as we enter crunch time, I catch a cold.  This is not helping my anxiety.

I like to blog in my study breaks, but I won’t be able to put together multi-hour blocks of blogging time the way I have up until this point.  For the rest of the week, there will be Ask Belle queries and shorter posts.  (I’ll reassess this weekend whether I have time to make some more in-depth posts.)  So if you have questions for Ask Belle, please send them to capitolhillstyle (at) gmail (dot) com.

xoxo, Belle

    You’ve got this!

  3. Tina Utset says:

    Good luck Belle!!!

  4. Britt says:

Wishing you the best of luck – you’re in the home stretch!

  5. Kateleen says:

I’m rooting for you, Abra! Good luck on the multiple choice questions!

  6. Crystal says:

Good luck, Belle! Just keep grinding through the multiple choice questions, outlining essay questions (and reading the proposed responses), and skimming over your outlines. You’ll do great. (What state are you taking?)

  7. Liz says:

    Good luck!

  8. Meghan says:

Sending lots of positive vibes your way. 🙂

  9. Jenn says:

Good luck! Don’t forget, it’s just a licensing exam. You need to pass, not get an A. This was a huge thug for me to realize while I drove myself crazy studying. 🙂 You got this!

  10. Monica T. says:

    Good luck Belle!

  11. Kate says:

Good luck! Remember to breathe and that in two weeks it will be behind you. You are amazing and nothing that happens in those 2 (or 3) days will change that.

  12. Taryn says:

Good luck!! Sending you lots of positivity to get you through the last couple of weeks. The hardest thing for me was the apprehension, you just have to remember that you don’t have to ace it, just pass it.

  13. Jess says:

Good luck! You’re going to crush.

  14. Kayleigh says:

Best of luck and remember that all the hard work you have put forth during this time will carry you through. And don’t worry, you will black out most of the awful experience! Also, practice wearing earplugs for extended periods of time if you haven’t already. 1,000s of computers typing will surely drive you a bit bonkers and you’ll want to make sure the earplugs don’t distract you.

  15. Sarah says:

Break a leg. Study and take care of yourself. I wouldn’t really worry about anything else until it is over!

  16. A says:

Go, study, ignore us and best of luck

  17. Anon says:

You seem to get sick a lot- is it because of stress? Take care of yourself!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
