1) Congress is a dysfunctional mess; but you should want to work there anyway. Basically every staffer’s life story. (The Washington Post)

2) Need cool blouses for work? I love this floral bow blouse from LOFT and this ivory jacquard split neck.

3) French Girl Beauty Rules — or why I’m getting a sample of this hair mask. (W)

4) The Outnet has this hot teal Rachel Zoe dress with lace yoke.  Also, this asymmetric pencil skirt is a steal at $69.

5) The ultimate efficiency hack: have children. (Quartz)

6) This Michael Kors activity tracker is actually chic.  They also make it in a stylish watch.

7) Oldie but Goodie: Why women get stuck with most of the office ‘housework.’ (NYT)

8) These Coach rain boots with a lace-up back are hot.  For a preppier look, try these Joules field boots.

“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do” sounds oddly like the Trump pseudo-apologies for his outrageous comments with Billy Bush. I’m sure you don’t mean it, but this election is all I’m thinking about, and it does sound like you’re supportive of Trump’s apologies. 🙁

    • ShanghaiSue says:

I don’t read it that way at all. In our work, I’m sure all of us have come across those people who promise the moon and stars. Who say they’ll help, who say they’ll throw things together…….and then they don’t. The ones I respect are the ones who step in there and do it, regardless of what they said they’d do.

      • Anna says:

Yeaaaah, I actually interpreted it the opposite way. In the context of this election, this quote seems critical of Trump. He’s the one who’s making all these big promises but has absolutely no record of delivering on any of these issues. It’s all just, “trust me, I’ll make everything bigger, greater, safer…” And the comments w/ Billy Bush, weren’t just saying what he would do but also what he has done. It took them to a whole ‘nother level.

    • Belle says:

This is just a quote about employees/colleagues who promise you they can get anything done and then don’t deliver. If you say you’re going to complete projects on deadline, and you repeatedly don’t, your a person who doesn’t get stuff done regardless of how you see yourself. It’s not about anything else. I’m not listening to Beatles’ records backwards looking for hidden meaning, and you shouldn’t be doing the same in the quote section.

Love the Leonor Greyl product line – switched over about a year ago and my hair has never looked or felt better. My hair is thin but dry, and I use the whole system for that type of hair. Life changing. And I’m in-house in the beauty business with deep discounts and I pay full retail to use Leonor Greyl instead.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
