The Daily Eight: August 12, 2016

I wanted to thank everyone for sticking around during the “lost months” of May, June, and July.  During the crucial first semester of law school, I suffered a tremendous heartbreak that continued to plunge my life into chaos for the next year.

Because I was trying to focus on school, I didn’t have time to fully deal with it.  So I just scraped up the shards of my self, shoved them into a bag and kept going.  When school ended, I needed some time to unpack the bag and re-examine my future.

It feels good to be back.  We’re launching a whole new look and new features next week.  It’s also the blog’s 8th Anniversary.  Yipes.

2) This $32 printed oversize, drape cardigan from Forever21 is seriously lust-worthy.

3) Bad tempered, pessimistic people earn more, live longer, and have happier marriages.  See, I knew I was on to something. (BBC)

4) Want Chloe flats? Don’t want to pay $495?  They’re $356 if you buy them from Europe.  Or pick up these $30 MIA knock offs.

5) “I’m 38, childless, and unmarried. Is it too late for me?”  (Elle)

6) Kopari Coconut Melt is the ultimate beauty multi-tasker.  Use it as conditioner, lotion, chapstick, and stretch mark cream.

7) You’re eating a lot of fake, rotten olive oil–how to find the real thing. (video) (Tech Insider)

8) Why do Millennial women love this blush-salmon color?  I don’t know, but I need these Adidas sneakers and this Horse watch. (The Cut)

Congrats on the blog-iversary 🙂 Life is all ups and downs. I’ve been through a lot of heartbreak and change over the past few years that has also left my life into chaos as you put it, and I did the same thing: put it in a bag so I could move forward and now the bag is full. But it’s been nice having a blogger whose content I look forward to reading and from whom I have learned a lot. I think yours is the only blog I don’t mind getting daily emails from in my coveted Gmail account 🙂 Wishing you all the best as you forge ahead!

Sending good thoughts your way. Heartbreak of any kind is the actual worst. Cheers to 8 more years of one of the few blogs I still actually read and look forward to on a regular basis.

Boden has a scalloped flat too. Different look, but still interesting for under $80:

You’re amazing, I look forward to your posts everyday. I didn’t even notice your ‘lost months’, and have heard balancing life with law school is challenging enough. Let alone one of the best, realest fashion blogs out there. Thanks again!

Belle, thanks for continuing to make this such a great blog. I can’t imagine balancing law school with this, then to add in significant emotional pain…I appreciate when you share those bits of yourself, and you should be very proud of all of your hard work. I lost my youngest sister last year unexpectedly, and it’s plunged my life into a chaos I don’t know will ever sort itself out. If you’re ever up for writing posts about coping skills and healing, I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks again for all you do, and I hope the future is full of joy and love and success for you, both personally and professionally!
