I’m off to Whitefish/Glacier National Park this weekend for my birthday. It’s just a quick trip, so I won’t need a full suitcase (which will be a nice change). Here’s what I’m taking.
Need a weekender bag? This Mark & Graham bag is sublime. It comes in a selection of chic neutrals and the company makes a wide range of coordinating leather goods.
For something less expensive, Sole Society makes great weekenders. Their Candice bag has a relaxed shape, and their Cassidy bag is a classic duffle. Everlane’s Weekender is also really well-reviewed.
Top Left, Sweatshirt Athleta Strength Hoodie ($98) // Hat Xhiliration Cap ($7)// Top LuluLemon Long Sleeve Crew ($68) // Sunglasses Ray-Ban Aviator ($189) // Tank Athleta PR Tank ($54) // Leggings LuluLemon Wunder Under Leggings ($98) // Shoes Brooks Ghost 8 Running Shoes ($129)
The weather isn’t going to be nice enough to hike, but we’ll still be taking some friends to the Park. Traveling in Northwestern Montana always involves a lot of driving, so I wanted to be comfortable. I don’t usually wear leggings in public, but a layered look makes it a bit nicer.
I like Lululemon’s leggings for yoga, and Zella’s leggings for hanging out around the house. If you want a less expensive option, I own a couple pair of Old Navy’s compression leggings, and for the price, they can’t be beat.
Right, Earrings Lauren Beaded Bali Drops ($48) // Top Rebecca Taylor Olivia Tank ($195) // Skirt Ratti Tulip Skirt ($118) // Shoes Schutz Janna Sandal ($90)
We’re headed out to dinner for my birthday, and I wanted something fun. All of the off-the-shoulder dresses everyone is wearing just don’t look right on me, so that’s out as an outfit choice. I’ve been avoiding J.Crew for a while now, but this skirt caught my eye. I ordered it, I’m hoping the quality is good (but I know that’s probably be in vain.
If off-the-shoulder isn’t your look either, I like this coral, embroidered dress and this flowy Izia maxi dress.
Bottom Left, Dress Joe Fresh Stripe Dress ($20) // Necklace Gorjana Gisele Pendant ($30) // Shoes Gentle Souls Dana Flat ($160) // Jacket LL Bean Freeport Jacket ($69)
I like field jackets because they eliminate the need for a purse. I just grab a small, simple wallet and some lip balm, and call it a day. Pair it with a simple dress and comfortable flats, and you’re done.
In need of a stripe dress? This Tim Tim Dress from French Connection and this Lucy Love dress are great stripe dresses with 3/4 sleeves. Adrianna Papell also has this great stripe dress for $55. Plus-size? ASOS Curve has a great relaxed t-shirt dress.

How does the fit of that field jacket run? It’s super cute.
Belle says:
Everything there runs a little big.

This is unrelated to the current post, but I thought of you when I read this article today: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/j-crew-trained-customers-to-want-one-thing-%E2%80%94-and-now-its-killing-business/ar-BBtwn4K?li=BBnbfcL. Apparently, they still don’t understand that the complaints are about the combination of high price with poor quality, not the lack of discounts.
Enjoy your birthday weekend!

They’ve said they’re working on the quality for fall. Of course, jcrew said that and their new collection is not improved.

I bought that J.Crew skirt too. Would love to see a two-ways post on it (casual vs dressed up, maybe)
SH says:
That skirt is the equivalent of $187 on J Crew’s UK site. Puts me off shopping with them just on principle!
Laura says:
I have the J Crew skirt and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived it’s actually really well made and the fit is really nice.
