#BeautyReview: Invigorating Night Treatment

May 10, 2016

s1636869-main-heroI mentioned my love for the Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment Gel in yesterday’s post, but I wanted to expand on my opinion.

This product is one of many marketed to women with “aging” skin, but one of the few that I’ve found that actually produces results.  The product contains AHA, to treat discoloration, uneven texture and wrinkles.  Algae nourishes skin, and other ingredients promote hydration.  It’s also free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

Each night, I apply my serum, then this product, then my night cream.

When I started using the product, I had a bad patch of acne on my cheek that wouldn’t go away.  It would look like it healed, but be discolored, then flare up again.  After two days of using this product, that area was smoother, less red, and the darkness less visible.  The rest of my acne scars have softened some over the past two weeks, and my existing acne is less red.

I can’t tell you how many (MANY) products that I have purchased that promise to fade dark spots and soften acne scars.  The drawers of my bathroom are littered with failures.  But this one actually works, and shows some results quickly.  I’m excited to see what it can do for my skin in the long term.

Belle, the link for your night cream goes to TonyMoly hand cream. I doubt that’s what you use on your face! At least I hope not…would you mind fixing the link? Thanks! PS congrats on graduation!

    • Belle says:

Fixed. TonyMoly makes hand cream and a sleeping pack that come in similar containers, thus, confusion.

I’m intrigued. Do you recommend any of the other ole henriksen products? I’m wondering if it would be a waste to get the value set on Sephora.

    • Belle says:

I like a lot of them. The Truth Serum is good. Try the set, even if you just like a couple of things, it’s worth it.

Do you spot treat or use this all over?

  4. Emily says:

Thank you for posting! AHA looks like it’s not on the bad list for pregnancy and I need to try something, since my self esteem is taking a hit from how bad my skin is. I’m hoping I have some good results too!

I started using the iS serum a couple months ago and LOVE it. Got some samples from my derm and have been only using it on my cheeks for now and I swear there’s a noticeable texture difference. (I feel like I should have done a before/after to see if it was impacting the acne scar/discoloration) Time to pony up the $$ once the samples run out—thanks for the drugstore link because I don’t think I would have thought to look there.

    • Belle says:

Look around for the Professional Size. It’s 2oz, and it has a pump (so you don’t risk spilling it, which happens with the dropper).

I purchased this when you originally posted and this has been life changing for my skin. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

The Beauty Edit: Neck Creams

Nora Ephron was right: I feel bad about my neck. As I move through my forties, the creases have turned into chasms. The skin sags like a pair of sweatpants with aging elastic. It’s not great. But it’s just a natural part of getting older. Over the past year, it feels like I’ve tried every […]
