***

Today is my last official day of law school.  I still have a few extern hours to complete, and a case to close, but this is my last exam.

I’m usually not one of those people who wonders where the time went, but I feel like I blinked and it was over.  At times, law school was nightmarish.  At other times, it was exactly where I wanted to be.

Some of you have written in looking for tips on getting into law school, surviving it, excelling at it, and I’ll write about it more in depth at some point.  But for now, I just need to get through these last few days.

Back tomorrow.  xoxo, Belle

Congratulations! As a practicing attorney, I am eager to hear what you think once you start your legal career. I don’t know if I am becoming more jaded or if people are becoming more rude, but I don’t know that I enjoy my job as much as I once did. I am a litigation attorney so it is contentious by its nature, but the way in which attorneys treat one another makes the practice miserable at times.

  20. Shelley says:

    Congratulations!!

  21. Sarah says:

Congratulations!!! It honestly does feel like time flew by since you started. You should be proud of yourself and treat yourself to something wonderful to celebrate!

  22. SLG says:

Congrats! I’ve been reading your blog since the mid/late-2000s, way back when I was trying to figure out how to dress for my (then) new job. Along the way I’ve felt a bit like your cheering section as you made different career moves and your blog evolved over time. (And I’ve felt like you are cheering your readers on too, as we all figure out how to be both professional and fabulous.) Can’t wait to see where life takes you next.

  23. Leila says:

Congratulations, Belle! Thanks as always for sharing so much with us.

  24. KJ says:

Congratulations! I had that exact same feeling on my last day of law school. Savor this moment – you EARNED it!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
