7) America is increasingly moving to the cities. This new map of a metropolis-driven nation is a bit terrifying for those of us from the sticks. (The New York Times)
8) This $6 e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer is an amazing drugstore buy. Comes in brightening formula for those who struggle with dull skin.
9) Rub these two things on your teeth to make them whiter naturally. (Marie Claire)
10) The place for casual spring dresses is Boden. I bought their slub tee dress last year, and I’ll be picking up another color. This printed Dolly dress is a versatile option for the office.
11) How a Senator used Facebook to influence employees in one D.C. building. (Fusion)
12) Is it strange that I saw this Coco-Cola Lipsmackers collection and needed to buy it if only for the nostalgia? Just a little? Great. These Lancome ‘Juicy Shaker’ lip glosses are the adult equivalent.

Considering how long it takes to wash the yellow off of kitchen appliances whenever I cook with turmeric, I’m not risking rubbing that stuff straight on my teeth.
Ooh, good find on that ELF primer. I’ve been looking for a good drugstore version of the laura mercier splurge. I make so many drugstore purchases on your recommendations, Belle, thanks for them!

I thought everyone knew how hardcore Harriet Tubman was, but this $20 business has startled (and depressed) me about how little people seem to know about her. Straight-up badass.
The ELF primer made me break out, alas, and I had to go back to Smashbox. My skin is very sensitive, however. Just thought I would share. I’ve had great success with other ELF products.
Can anyone speak to whether the quality of Gap’s chinos is any better this year? I had a couple pairs from 6 years ago that both finally wore out last year, and when I went to replace them the quality of the material was atrocious and sizing was a mess.
I tried on several pairs of Gap’s chinos this season (sounds like we are in the same boat) and settled on the Banana Republic Straight Fit chinos for looking a little nicer than Gap’s Girlfriend chinos. I am a very reliable size 8 and I could pull on the 8 without unbuttoning it in both the Gap and BR styles. The 6 has been fine after washing, tumble drying on low, and wearing (a tiny bit snug the first hour, but then great). A saleswoman at Gap told me that customers have complained about the Girlfriend chinos stretching out significantly during wear. I can’t speak to the crops though.
If anyone’s considering getting the LOFT chinos this season, be aware that they stretch out A LOT during wear.

Just use toothpaste and a toothbrush to get the same degree of “whitening” that the turmeric method is claiming. Toothpaste has mild abrasives in it that, like turmeric, will remove plaque. Using your toothbrush without anything on it will do the same thing, but toothpaste will give you the added benefit of fluoride – which will prevent and reverse slight demineralization. You’ll need that if you’re drinking lemon water as much as beauty blogs advocate.
No judgment on the Lipsmackers. I actively use the Dr Pepper one, and have a spare in my vanity.
