As an eight plus year hill staffer, I’m definitely close to burn out. I feel like every few months I think, “‘f it, I’m quitting my job and moving to the middle of nowhere,” but then there are parts of my job that I really love. I definitely could use a sabbatical though. I’ve had the good fortune of never being unemployed and getting that I wasn’t expecting to get until after paying my dues for a few years before even finishing my undergrad. But that means I’ve never had a break to mentally step away from an emotionally and sometimes physically draining job for more than maybe a week if I’m lucky and recharge.

And oh goodness, the culottes! No. They still look terrible. They make her look wide and stubby. Why would this ever be a trend???

I don’t think it’s not “supportive” to point out that something isn’t flattering. Especially when you run a fashion blog and put your outfits on the internet and can expect some criticism. Nothing that Anna said was anything less than what I’d expect a good girlfriend to say when asked for an honest opinion. We need to stop framing any negative comment from another woman as not being “supportive”. An honest, civil criticism is still supportive, if you ask me.
Agreed- nothing Anna said was an attack on Olivia personally (she didn’t criticize her body or anything like that). She just said that the culottes aren’t flattering “they make her look wide and stubby” vs. if she’d said “she’s too wide and stubby to wear the culottes” (which would be a cruel, ridiculous statement). This might be unusual, but I take comments like that as compliments, as in “you look too good to wear pants that don’t make you look your best!”
Agreed. Also, why are we all expected to be so supportive of one another? I mean, generally, yes, support your fellow sisters, but this is ridiculous.

I didn’t say YOU look terrible or that YOU were wide and stubby. You posted photos of yourself on a fashion blog showcasing an outfit. I think it’s completely fair to criticize the outfit. Just like an artist has their art work critiqued, a fashion blogger should expect to have their fashion critiqued. Don’t put it out there if you don’t want people to comment on it. That said, I do think you’re very pretty, and you’ve styled the culottes to the best of their capacity. They are just a horrible fashion trend that does no one any favors. Unless you personally invented culottes, I don’t see how you can take offense.
I like the culottes more than I thought I would. While I don’t think Anna’s comments were “unsupportive,” but for the sake of balance, I pinned the close up of your hair to bring to my stylist next week. And I don’t usually like peplum, but you’re for sure pulling it off.
I don’t read Olivia’s blog, and her sarcastic comment makes me less likely to begin doing so. Olivia, you are are a very beautiful woman. I also agree that the culottes are not flattering.
