Belle, do you think the quality of BR has gone up? I’ve noticed you’ve linked more of their items lately and I think they have a new head designer in place. I like the look of some of their stuff, but the reviews make me think I’ll be disappointed again.
On some of the items, no. On others, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. As always, the tops are the riskiest. I think the jackets are usually a good bet, and the shoes are pretty good too.
I really like that blue sheath dress. Wondering however about the exposed zipper in the back? Is that considered somehow less formal / conservative than a hidden zipper, especially since it is full length? I really miss hidden zippers!
I loved the response to the Yelp employee. While I’m not ashamed of my job, it is certainly not what I had in mind when I graduated college 4 years ago. I came to DC to work in politics (surprise, surprise) and when I couldn’t find anything permanent after 2 years of looking, I sucked it up and took a full time office job so I could pay my bills. It’s not where I want to be forever but it’s teaching me skills that will be critical no matter the industry I end up in and I’m not relying on anyone else financially.
Question on long necklaces. I have a few tops and dresses with asymmetrical necklines. Can you successfully carry off a long necklace with these? Any tips or tricks?
Belle – notice that the study in the WSJ piece only used men? Wonder how it may differ especially given that the options for working women are not just suits or white tee shirts (as you well know)!
