Thanking All Those Who Serve

Nov 11, 2015

Every year, we stop to thank our nation’s veterans for their service.  However, this year, I would like to take a moment to thank the spouses of our veterans.  They may not put their lives on the line for our country, but they sacrifice in their own ways.

Spouses send their loved ones into harms way for months or years at a time.  They move on a moment’s notice from post to post.  They take care of their homes, their children, and deal with the loneliness, the worry and the waiting.  And when their loved ones return, a new struggle often begins.

So to all the partners and spouses sacrificing so that others can serve our country, thank you.

Thanks for putting a spot light on military spouses/partners, who are often forgotten.

Thank you, Belle! Having missed my husband for 6 months recently while on a deployment, it’s good to know we are also appreciate for our sacrifices.

As a military spouse who has been following your blog for about 3 years I appreciate this post. My husband has served for 6 years though we are moving on from the military in January. Military life is incredibly difficult, involving much more sacrifice than civilians understand. While we are moving forward on a new journey, I am thankful for the experience but I have seen first hand how much work there is to be done in caring for our veterans and even active duty members. I am grateful everyday that my husband has suffered no major injuries, physical or mental, during his service and deployments, but I have seen far too many men and women damaged by war who have not been cared for as our government has promised. I plan to never stop fighting for our veterans to receive the care they deserve. Thank you, Belle!

Thanks Belle! I’m pregnant and alone while my husband is deployed. He says the only thing harder than being a Marine is being the wife of a Marine.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
