1) Famous quotes, the way a woman would have to say them  in a meeting.

2) This cognac, triple-compartment satchel is the perfect work tote…and it’s just $65.

3) Modcloth is eliminating the “plus” from plus-size, including extended sizes on the same page as the misses sizes.  My only concern is that not all of their items are available in 16+, so the separation forces women who wear those sizes into a fashion Easter Egg-hunt.

4) Love Zella leggings (my favorite) but don’t want to drop $50+ on leggings? The Rack’s Z by Zella leggings come in at half the price.

5) On Tinder, Off Sex — The NYT explores ‘secondary abstaining.’

6) Looking for sweaters?  I love this sweater vest from Club Monaco.  I had to have this slouchy turtleneck from BR (I bought the orange).  And this LOFT sweater is a good lightweight option.

7) Why training for a distance race isn’t a good way to accomplish your weight-loss goals.

8) The NFL has a domestic violence problem.  Sports Illustrated asks whether the NFL has forgotten about their “No More” campaign.

9) These Eberjey pajamas in black and white print caught my eye.  I also like this simple Calvin Klein set for when you want to be cozy.

10) You bra needs a wash; Racked explains how to hand wash and machine wash. (Hint: you need an intimates bag and lingerie soap.)

11) I can’t wait to read this Joan Didion biography over the holidays.  Who knew Harrison Ford was her handyman?

12) A Mighty Girl covers empowering Halloween costumes for girls (some good ideas for grown women, too).

Eye Candy. Seriously. Alexander McQueen, seriously.

Seriously,..oh boy! that Alexander McQueen gown! also looking forward to a few minutes with Joan Didion.

  2. Megan says:

I’m rough on my leggings, particularly in the middle of winter when I’m wearing them in lieu of tights, so I’ve found that stocking up at Costco has been the most effective method. The Matty M brand is $15, shipping is free, and the color palette is dark but neutral.

Love the BR turtleneck, but I’m wary of BR/Gap fits. My shoulders tend to swim in their sweaters.

  3. AG says:

Love the McQueen but thought it looked familiar: https://www.washingtonian.com/gallery/style/olivia-popes-top-5-gala-gowns.php#&panel1-2. I totally coveted that dress the second I saw it.

  4. Anna says:

Does anyone have some experience with Z by Zella items? Is the fit and quality as good as Zella?

    • Belle says:

Some other bloggers say the quality is comparable, just slightly down. The fit should be similar or the same

    • KM says:

The Z by Zella black leggings are see through when you bend over. It doesn’t bother me because I wear tights underneath (I coach figure skating and it’s cold) but I wouldn’t want to wear them without the tights! I have not noticed the same problem in the regular Zella leggings.

  5. Julia says:

Interesting about the marathon training. I gained weight during my marathon training. Lost it all and then some during half ironman training though. I think because you spend a LONG time running, it feels like a lot of exercise, but I found my body and appetite adjusted. So I tried lifting heavy. That made me gain weight too. The only thing that worked for me is no sugar and High intensity interval training. Bonus points bcs HIIT is WAY shorter than marathon training. Also side note, my friends and I all ran marathons on ZERO training…. like, barely ran 8 miles in prep for the race. I don’t know why all these popular running programs have you running endless miles.

    • Anna says:

European training programs generally don’t go over 13 or 15 miles. Once your body can do that comfortably, it can run a marathon. The biggest challenge in a marathon is mental.

  6. Curvy CEO says:

As a plus-size shopper myself ITA about Modcloth eliminating the term as not necessarily being a good thing. I get the idea behind this – wanting to “normalize” plus-size and integrate it more info fashion generally. But as someone who is limited to the accessories counter at more mainstream, predominantly “straight-size” shops, I *need* the term is-size. I don’t take offense. It just makes my life easier.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
