Dear Belle,
Odd question, maybe not odd, but definitely not work related…where do I buy nice/cute sweatshirts? The only sweatshirts I own I got in college or on a campaign. I keep seeing women in plain hoodies and pullies but I don’t know where they’re finding them. Ideas?
xo, Hanna
Since the rise of ‘athleisure,’ clothing that used to be reserved for weekend lounging or gym trips has become appropriate for almost any occasion. This means there are cute, stylish sweatshirts for sale in many stores. Here are a few of my favorites.
Athleta’s line also offers tall, petite and plus-sizes. Though not all products are available in all ranges, there is a little something for everyone.
I also like this simple pullover sweatshirt from BR (it’s a great length for covering the rear view).
Scotch & Soda Home Alone Sweater ($125, 3 colors)
North Face Zip Front Hoodie ($57)
I thought the asymmetric zipper on the front was a really cool detail.
While I like Athleta’s line, I think there are other brands that do the transitional look better. I’m a huge fan of Lole and Oiselle right now. Both brands are exclusively for women, and Lole markets across the activities board. They’re well made, and both are incredibly positive.
I also picked up this sweatshirt last year from Brooks. It’s soft, and the asymmetric buttons and hem are fantastic. It gets worn after a workout to make my running capris a little more restaurant/bar appropriate, and I can slip it on at work in a pinch if I need to without it looking like I should be at home (obviously when it’s clean, not sweaty.)

Second the vote for Oiselle. I wear my Lux Hoodie approx 4x week.
Ouch, those are cute, but I can’t imagine paying $100 for a sweatshirt.
Same here!
Lucy has some much cuter options at way better prices!
Check out the brands Spiritual Gangster and Chaser. Both are available at Nordie’s and very cute & comfy.
