Lo&Sons Back to School Giveaway

Snip20150825_10Lugging books, a laptop, and all of my essentials to school gets exhausting.  When I need to lighten the load on my shoulders, my Lo&Sons OMG is the only bag for me.  Made of a durable, lightweight nylon, the OMG has all the pockets you need to ensure you never leave home without the things you need.

When I was still packing the 15″ Macbook, this Brookline tote was my go to bag.  And if you’re headed for the beach, or looking for a relaxed weekender, this Catalina is a must have.

Lo&Sons is currently having an end-of-season sale that offers 20-25%-off most of their wares.  So if you’ve been putting off buying a stylish school, work, or travel bag, now is the time.

To celebrate a return to school (as if such a thing was worth celebrating), Lo&Sons is hosting a giveaway. The lucky winner can choose the bag of her choice from their wide selection of stylish wares.  To enter, leave a comment discussing the one thing you always have to have in your bag.  And don’t forget to use your real e-mail address!  The winner will be announced on Sunday.

Disclosure: I have an ongoing relationship with Lo&Sons.  Several years ago, they gave me a free Brookline.  Then, as a law school gift, they gave me my OMG.  They have never paid me for my endorsement.  I feature them here because I love the bags and think they’re the perfect lightweight bag for women whose professional commitments make them feel like pack mules.  All opinions are my own.

I’ve seen women use these on the DC Metro, and I have to wonder why. They seem incredibly bulky and unfit to squeeze easily between people on crowded trains when there is a lot of flow with people entering and exiting seats, aisles, and the trains. I’ve seen the bags get caught up with moving crowds because they’re so large or the person carrying them doesn’t realize it’s polite to put your large bag in your free hand and not keep it hooked to your arm when trains are crowded. Frankly, I don’t want to be that woman who can’t leave home for 8-10 hours without toting a boulder around, so I won’t be using mine for commuting reasons. All of that said, they are better suited for travel. Or for women who live in wide open spaces.

    August 26, 2015/Reply
    • m says:

How else would you suggest that commuters carry their gym clothes, laptops, etc?

      August 26, 2015/Reply
    • N.P. says:

Sara, while I appreciate your desire to rid the metro of extraneous baggage, I urge you to consider dumping your own. Many women ‘tote boulders’ around because we have jobs that require us to use (and transport) laptops, files, tablets, and other paperwork. I, personally, pack a lunch every day and that takes up some room in my boulder as well. Do I wish that I could leave my house every morning in a pocket-less sundress, arms and hands free as birds? Yes, of course! But since I’m a normal person, I have to carry some stuff around with me. (Unless, of course, you succeed in your campaign to rid the Metro of bags of all kinds, which is the only resolution I can see working for you.)

    • Anna says:

They’re awesome for travel, but I mostly use mine as a gym bag. It has a shoe pocket on the side where I can put my sweaty clothes and it looks way more professional than a duffel. After too many awkward evenings staffing my boss at receptions while toting my old gym bag, I took the plunge on this.

I also religiously carry reusable shopping bags, the kind that fold up really small. I was raised in a household with a bin of crumpled target bags under the sink and can’t bear to toss them out, but who needs a thousand plastic grocery sacks? 3. Crenelated tactical flashlight. You never know if you need to search for an item that dropped somewhere dark… Or if you might have the chance to defend yourself if someone tries to rob you or something… Or if you are stuck somewhere on a broken down train and need to smash the windows to escape…
