1) This New Yorker article is from last year, but its discussion of how negotiating an initial offer can hurt you is always relevant.  Not scared off? HBR covers how to negotiate your offer.

2) This $23 lace shell from Target has a lovely pattern to it.  I love the trim.

3) Six Real-Life Intern Horror Stories.

4) I was ogling the Bloomingdale’s new arrivals and saw this gorgeous, cobalt French Connection dress.  And this Calvin Klein dress in orange is fantastic as well.

5) The New York Times discusses the ongoing battle between artificial sweeteners and sugar and asks, “Which one is better for you?”

6) Meghan from District Sparkle is talking travel must-haves.  I agree with her travel-size Pop sonic toothbrush, and I immediately bought this plexiglass screen cover to keep my iPhone from shattering.

7) Why do people run for President even though they cannot win?  National Journal discusses why long-shots still throw their hats in.

8) Like many women in their mid-30s, I want to switch to matte eyeshadow because I’m too old for glitter.  The best product I’ve found are these affordable NYX shadows.

9) More children are living in poverty now than during the recession.  Also, the most insidious damage of poverty is to children’s brains.

I just got to the piece on presidential candidates and have to say thanks for posting. I’d never given Pataki a thought before, but even as a lefty myself, I came away liking his practicality and moderation a lot. It really does highlight what’s wrong with the celebrity-candidates system we have today.

I’m glad you mentioned this article, as I had missed it completely.

Truly fascinating profile, and confirms a longstanding suspicion that the “celebrity” politicians everyone is always talking about are the people least qualified to lead a country.

I wish Mr. Pataki the best of luck amongst the ‘wackadoodles’.

#3 – Really, where are the HR departments at these places!

#8 – I’m in the same boat and though I’ve found a handful of 100% matte palettes I just do the build my own from MAC now. I probably have 15 different neutral matte shadows from them and they are all great.

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
