Lots of great articles today.  Thanks to everyone who sent one in.

1) Vox covers why expensive wine is for suckers.  And Digg has an interesting video on ‘The Sherlock Holmes of Wine’ who authenticates bottles of really expensive wine.

2) This sleeveless dress in pale lilac with a charcoal waistband … oh.my.heavens.

3) With Amal Clooney, We Finally Have a Consummate Feminist Superhero, Let’s Not Ruin It.  (So great.)

4) Elizabeth and James makes the best rings.  This Stella Ring Set is sublime.  I love the pop of color on this enamel band ring.  And this open Serra ring is lovely and simple.

5) I agree with all of the topics discussed in “The Most Important Lessons I’ve Learned After College.”

6) Bloomingdale’s is having an incredible sale. You can pick up the chic Black Halo Jackie dress for 40%-off.

7) Anthropologie’s sales grew by a meager one-percent, but they pinpointed the problem: no one loved their dresses.  My take?  Most of the dresses were gorgeous, but with barely a thing under-$150, too expensive.

8) This $18 midi-dress is perfect for the weekends.

9) Some are suggesting that the best way to remedy the wage gap is to ban salary negotiations.  The Washington Post discusses why that idea isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

10) Summer sweaters are a thing.  I adore this side-slit sweater from Madewell, and this gorgeous crochet-trim cardi from LOFT.

11) When a 37-year-old actress is told that she’s too old to play the love interest of a 55-year-old man.

This is good advice: “You will realize that the friends that stick by you are the ones that are worth keeping around.” But it is also important to be the friend that sticks by their friends. Be a friend who is worth keeping around. Don’t just rely on others to show up. Making the effort to stick by someone and be there for friends is important, especially as adults where friends may not have family close by, may not have roommates, and may not see close friends every day as we came accustomed to in college.

So true KC! And important to remember.

  3. Angie says:

Re the article on Amal: I totally support what the author would like us to do (i.e., stop putting a celebrity’s non-show-biz spouse under a microscope, especially since she isn’t all googly eyed over the industry). But the tone of the writing embodies a kind of nastiness that the author criticizes: do we really need to bash now-deceased Carolyn Kennedy and JFK Jr.’s troubled marriage., or snidely poke at Katie Holmes for being frumpy (don’t understand that one at all)? It’s no wonder Amal tries to escape from the spotlight when the media hordes descend on George.

  4. Erin says:

Belle, the lilac dress with charcoal sash … bought it. I can always count on you to point us to winners!

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
