Ask Belle: Blouses with Sleeves for Work

Mar 18, 2015

Hi Belle,

My daily uniform is a pencil skirt and blouse, maybe a cardigan if it’s cold.  I need some new blouses for spring.  I have black and white covered, so I’d love some prints or different colors.  Looking in the intern to poor staffer pricer range.

xx, Leila

Oh, I love long sleeve blouses.  I wear them all year-round, so it’s always nice to have a reason to window shop for them.  Here are a few options in colors and prints, as requested.

Solid Colors

DKNYC Reflection Stripe ($79)

Plus-size? For bright colors, try this Sejour split-neck blouse or this NYDJ patterned blouse.  Looking for prints? I like the ‘broken photo’ print on this Vince Camuto top.  This DKNYC mixed media blouse is cool, as is the soft, dot-print on this Caslon blouse.

Oh, my gosh, you’re right. Sorry, busy week here with trial competitions going on. I’ll throw up a few tonight, so check back in the morning. Apologies.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
