Pinterest Stylist: Shades of Neutrality

1. Mango Mohair Coat ($230) // 2. Mango Printed Tie-Neck Blouse ($60) // 3. H&M Suit Pants ($35) // 4. Ivanka Trump Camela Pumps ($140) // 5. Ralph Lauren Newbury Satchel ($298) // 6. OPI Big Apple Polish ($9.50) // 7. Thin Shaped Ring Set ($45)

This week’s look comes from Olivia at Corporate Catwalk.  I like the neutral mix for those days when you want to look sophisticated and sleek without thinking too hard about your outfit.  Having an outfit like this at the ready makes those, “I have a closet full of nothing to wear” mornings easier.

My one comment is that I don’t care for the shorter length on the trousers.  If you find a pair of suit trousers that you like, I recommend buying two pairs and having one tailored for flats and the other for pumps.

One. My grey coat is one of my favorite things about winter.  If you want a neutral that is as versatile as black but not as common, grey is a winner.  Looking for something under-$150?  This Tinley Road long line coat is awesome.  H&M also has a couple of choices, one with a funnel neck and one that’s collarless with a lightly puffed shoulder.

Plus-size?  This Calvin Klein coat with leather trim is chic.  Petite? This Ralph Lauren Walker Coat is lovely.

Two. The original blouse is from Ann Taylor, but is sold out.  This Mango blouse offers the same color palette in a gauzier fabric.  This Aqua blouse has a sleek crossover style and a v-neck.  If you want a button-up shirt, this cloud-print shirt from Romwe is a great choice, especially for $27.

Three. I like a slim bootcut trouser, like these H&M pants, or a wider trouser style.  If you’re looking for a better-quality bootcut trouser, I recommend these Lafayette 148 trousers that are half-off at Nordstrom.

Plus-size ladies, check out these Sejour trousers.  Petite ladies should look into these Halogen suit trousers.

Four. The shoes in the photo are from Kurt Geiger, but they’re out of my price range.  With their mix of textures and toe cap, I thought these  Ivanka Trump t-straps were a good substitute.  For something amazing under-$100, I love these Reiss pumps in chocolate-brown, black and a hint of sheer.

Five. This satchel from Ralph Lauren is one of my favorite bags on the market right now.  I also love their Ralph Lauren Tri-Zip bag, and it’s 33-percent-off.  For something under-$100, I like this Merona satchel and this Limited satchel with metal trim.

Six. Red nail polish is a must.  Whenever I need a pick me up, I paint my nails red.  Add a bit of Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab base and top coat and I get at least 10 days out of my mani with few, if any touch ups.

Seven. The thin rings from J.Crew have a modern look to them.  I also like this wavy set from AV Max and this $3 set from Forever21.

Love your blog. Desperate for a warm stylish pretty wool winter coat that goes to the knee in an XL size. All that I have been able to see are the same boring R. Lauren/E. Tracy/A. Klein “walker style” 3/4 length coats or puffer/nylon coats. I take that back, I have seen several that meet the criteria but they were over %800.00 and I want to stay under $500.00. Is it hopeless???

Have you looked at Lands End? They have some pretty nice coats. Might be too basic for what you’re looking for.

Not be shameless self-promoter-girl, but check out my blog-www.yousaucyminx.com. I did a write-up of fun and interesting coats over size 12 that won’t kill the bank account.

Hi – I will def. start following your blog. Just looked at the coats and want a warm knee length wool coat…any suggestions? The Lands End ones are an option but not super stylish.

Avenue has some really gorgeous options right now, and I was pleasantly surprised by their quality. Nordstroms also has some fabulous knee length wool coats, with nice details like asymmetrical cuts, detailed seaming, etc.

Also, check out ModCloth. They have gorgeous wool coats in unique shapes, colors, with beautiful details, in everything from extra petite to plus sizes.

Just want to say that I have the RL Newbury bag and I love it. Good quality, holds its shape beautifully, and is easy to organize my stuff in thanks to the three compartments.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
