State of the Blog: Battle Stations

Oct 2, 2014

You know that moment when you feel it…that tickle in your throat, the tightness in your chest, the feeling that you half the energy you did this morning.  That was me, yesterday afternoon.  Now, my body is in full meltdown.

Sleep is more important than blogging.  If you need me, I’ll be drinking my fourth cup of Theraflu, wrapped in a blanket cardigan, writing a letter to Santa, reminding him that he still hasn’t delivered the bio-hazard suit that I requested two Christmases ago.

I did spend a few minutes last night searching Piperlime looking for pieces to complete my fall wardrobe.  Here is some of what caught my eye.

Pim + Larkin Double Layer Wrap Coat ($159)

I adore the charcoal and camel color palette.  Yummy.

Bailey 44 Sublimation Skirt ($143)

cn8852675

Tinley Road Leather Patch Sweater ($69)

cn8589968

BB Dakota Katia Jacket ($89)

I own this sweater.  The material is not as heavy as I hoped, but I really like it.  It’s cozy.

How did I not realize you had an instragram?? There goes all productivity for the next hour…

In general I find BB Dakota’s “coats” to be more like sweaters.

I have a tickle in my throat today!..Well, more than a tickle and my face feels like a puffer fish….but I’m telling myself it’s allergies and putting up a fight. I’ve been unscathed by the several office plagues that have ravaged our tiny office this year. I’m not falling now!

Also wanted to let you know that the video ad below the posts (I think it is new) is playing automatically through Chrome.

I sent in an email about it. I apologize for this, I’ve made it clear several times that this blog cannot have ads that play sound automatically. Unfortunately, with the wide variety of browsers available, I don’t think the silence is universal.

      • Leigh says:

Yeah I completely understand. It’s fine for me; I just mute my speakers. I wanted to give you a heads up in case you weren’t aware yet!

  6. Kate M says:

How is Pim + Larkin’s quality, generally? I love that coat, but Piperlime doesn’t list the fabrics used for it or anything.

  7. Kari says:

I bought Theraflu at the store this week based on your recommendation. Thank you! I have never recovered from a severe cold so quickly.

  8. YouSaucyMinx says:

    The coat is gorgeous.

Feel better! Theraflu is awesome, but Tylenol Cold 7 Flu makes me feel like myself, but better.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
