Pinterest Mondays: Shades of Summer

Jun 17, 2014

This post is a bit late, but I think it’s worth it…

1. Whistles Megan Sculptured Dress ($175 + 20%-off) // 2. Fringe Statement Necklace ($28) // 3. L.K. Bennett Leopard Pumps ($225) //4. Topshop Double Zip Bag ($84) // 5. 424 Wide Cuff ($15), Kate Spade Knot Bracelet ($78) and Leigh Id Bracelet ($119)

This week’s look comes from Seersucker + Saddles.  I love the mix of summer colors and textures.  The leopard pumps are right on trend and the pool blue is a great shade because it’s just bold enough, especially with the hint of orange.

One. The dress took a while to find.  The original is Tibi, the one above is from Asos.  It’s not as fitted, but it’s the right color.

If you prefer the shape to the shade, this Darling dress is a great find at $57. This red Hugo Boss dress and this purple Lafayette 148 dress are both good options.  Plus-size? Try this Donna Ricco sheath.  Petite? This Tahari sheath is a similar style and color.

Two. The necklace isn’t an exact match but it has some of the same hues.  If you want some less colorful options, this David Aubrey necklace has a lapis look to it.  I also like this less expensive Anne Klein necklace in shade of turquoise and pale blue.  Or you can go with an all orange look and choose this Fornash Nantucket necklace.

Three. Leopard for summer is very in right now, too bad the selection of shoes on shelves is decidedly sparse due to the season.  In addition to these L.K. Bennett shoes, I found these less expensive Sam Edelman pumps.  Should you prefer an open toe, try these Adrienne Vittadini pumps.

Four. The original look has an orange clutch like this one from Gigi New York.  I need more storage space than that during the workday, so I switched it up for this satchel.  It’s a great buy for $84, and has a decent amount of storage.  I also like this Vince Camuto Jace satchel.

Five. This selection of bracelets is simple but interesting.  I love the wide cuff with the wave shape.  The knotted bracelet is a versatile piece, if you’re looking for a cheaper one, try this Banana Republic bracelet.  I also like this ID bracelet from Bauble Bar.

I’ve been looking for a necklace like the one you posted since Banana Republic had their wildly overpriced cord version sell out last year! Love it!

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
