1. Uniqlo Ultra Down Vest ($50) // 2. Intermix Animal Print Sweater ($198) // 3. J.Crew Cashmere Tippi Sweater ($168) // 4. J.Crew Wool Pencil Skirt ($148) // 5. Mossimo Stud Belt ($12) // 6. DKNY Opaque Tights ($20) // 7. Express Striped Marled Scarf ($20) // 8. Zara Black Heel Ankle Boot ($60) // 9. Levity Marlow Satchel ($120)

I spotted this outfit in a recent Harper’s Bazaar street style feature.  I loved the mix of textures and neutral colors.  The outfit is perfect for a business casual day or a more relaxed office.  And the puffer can be easily removed to create a stylish black and white ensemble.

As Harper’s put it, the outfit brings a bit of apres ski in the city.

One. The woman in the photo is wearing an extremely puffy vest, so I chose this vest from Uniqlo.  Land’s End makes a slightly slimmer vest in the same price point.  It also comes in petite, tall and plus.  Looking for a tailored vest with loads of style?  Don’t miss this navy Lilly Pulitzer vest.

Two. Finding a copy of the sweater in the photo proved quite difficult.  I chose this leopard sweater because it had the same mix of neutrals and the same white trim.  If you’d like something with more of a geometric pattern in it, try this Elizabeth & James sweater or try a simple striped sweater.

Three. I like the black crewneck layered underneath a short-sleeve sweater.  If you want a little less bulk, try this Eddie Bauer crewneck tee.

Four. The skirt in the set is from J.Crew, but my current favorite pencil skirt is from White House Black Market.  It’s very slimming, and surprisingly comfortable.  It also comes in petites.  And did I mention it’s on sale for $49?

Five. A puffer vest can be a bit bulky, so adding a belt can re-emphasize your waist and pull the look together.  For this look, I like the studded grey belt.  You could also try a wide elastic black belt if your goal is a more structured look.

Six. I’m still kicking it with the DKNY tights.  They’re surprisingly durable.  I’ve been alternating the same two pairs for three months and haven’t seen a single run.

Seven. I desperately wanted to find a teal and navy striped scarf like in the photo, but no joy.  This cobalt and black scarf from Express was a good alternative.  If you have your heart set on a teal/blue mix, try this blanket wrap from Leith.

Eight. I love black boots with a wood heel.  They’re the ultimate in relaxed chic.  This pair from Zara is only available in limited sizes, so you should also take a look at this Dolce Vita Joust boot or these Rag & Bone Harrow boots.

Nine. I chose this bag because the d-rings and rounded corners make it a good substitute for the bag in the photo.  Also, the price is pretty good.  If you don’t need a black bag, it also comes in light tan.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
