Pinterest Mondays: The Grey Areas

Pants: Tory Burch Wide Trouser ($164) // Sweater: AllSaints Elgar Sweater ($138) // Scarf: Barneys Stone Washed Scarf ($115) // Watch: Nixon 42-20 Chrono ($500) // Bag: Rocco Stud-Flap Clutch ($58) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Aviator ($145)  // Shoes: Elizabeth and James Vino Pumps ($325)

This week’s pin was taken from the blog Because I’m Addicted, but came from the website, Fash-n-Chips.  I love the relaxed slouch that all the clothes possess, but at the same time, they’re still casually professional.  It’s like business casual with attitude.

The whole outfit just says, “See how effortlessly pulled together this look is?  You should see me in a crisis.”

One.  Everyone, even a skirt lover, needs a great pair of black trousers.  I like mine wide-legged.  The wider, the better.

These Tory trousers are wide enough to get the effect, but not so wide that they become costume.  Want them even wider?  As wide as the woman in the photo?  Then, you want palazzo pants.  Try this affordable pair from Mango.

Need a pair of trousers under-$50?  Try these Old Navy Essentials pants.  Plus-size?  Try these slouchy Eileen Fisher pants.

Two and Three.  I love the laid-back vibe of the sweater in the photo, and this AllSaints sweater has the same look.  Coming in a very close second is this Hinge sweater with button details on the back for $68.  Need a cheaper scarf?  Check out this $24 Tasha infinity scarf.

Prefer a light-colored sweatshirt, try this basic Tippi sweater from J.Crew.  For a lighter scarf, Chan Luu makes some of the best scarves on Earth.  They’re light and airy, yet warm at the same time.  Need a plus-size charcoal sweater? Try this Leo & Nicole sweater.

Four.  When I bought my watch, I chose a leather band to accommodate my tiny wrists.  But this photo has me thinking about buying a chunky, gold watch instead. Need something cheaper?  Michael Kors makes a nice watch in a lower price point.

Five. I was surprised that the bag in this outfit was an oversized metallic clutch, but it works.  I adore the clutch in the set above.  It could be casual or cocktail, and the studs are sublime.

Six.  Aviators.  Always, aviators.  Need a cheaper pair?  Try this $25 pair from LOFT.

Seven.  I love these shoes.  Shocking amounts of love.  But if you’d like a lighter pair, like in the photo, try these Enzo Fayson pumps.  Just need a cheaper dark pair?      I could not be more smitten with these fashion-forward, but approachable, Dorothy Perkins pumps.

So where would you wear this? I’ve worn a similar outfit on casual Fridays but felt it might have been too slouchy for work. I’d wear it for weekend jaunts around the city like the model above, except the heels would get chewed up so quickly.

how do you wear wide legged pants as a petite person without looking swallowed up?

also I have those LOFT aviators and they are awesome

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
