Shopbop Friends and Family Sale

Oct 16, 2013

Twice per year, the fine folks at Shopbop host a friends and family sale.  No hidden codes or special invitations are required.  Everyone is eligible to save 25-percent on designers like DvF, Black Halo, Tibi and more using code INTHEFAMILY25.  (And don’t forget to use Ebates to also receive 3% cash back.)

I decided to save on the fairly pricey Loeffler Randall Viola boots that I’ve been stalking for two years. If I wear them even half as much as I’ve thought about them, they’ll pay for themselves.  I also stocked up on Hanky Panky Bare thongs and picked up a pair of leather-accented leggings just to see what I think of them in person.

As for products that I can personally endorse, there are two that I want to recommend.

IIIBeCa Thomas Street Tote ($198)

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my Thomas Street Tote several dozen times.  It is my go-to casual bag.  The rich cognac color, the adjustable straps and durable construction make it a must have.

Mine has taken incalculable abuse over the past two years and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.  One of my favorite purchases.

Bop Basics Work Trousers ($180)

I wanted a black pair that I could wear with high heels, since both pair of pants I own (the J.Crew Hutton Trouser) are cut for flats.  So I decided to give these Bop trousers a try.

I usually have a hard time finding pants that fit me without lots of expensive tailoring.  The wide-legged style and wider waistband on these trousers suited my pear-shape rather well.  They’re also very flattering.  (No joke, my thighs have never looked thinner.)  And with hemming and a nip at the waist, I paid barely $40 for everything.

In fact, I like these trousers so much that I bought the suit jacket that goes with them.  When worn together, the boyfriend-tailored jacket and the wide-legged trousers create a modern suit that feels and looks relaxed, yet professional.  They’re also machine washable, so they’re perfect for business travel.

So are you shopping the friends and family sale?  If so, what are you picking up?

Thomas Street Tote, here I come! I’ve been looking for a structured cognac bag like that for a while now.

    Thanks for the tip, Belle.

  2. Lexi says:

Great tip, thanks! Still kinda reeling from the suit jacket listing a size 12 as an XXL though. Wow. Love the pants.

  3. Chloe says:

I just bought leather accented leggings on a whim from Victoria’s Secret (with a reward they wound up being $20) and am a little clueless what to wear them with – I tried them out with a short sleeved sweater dress and flats first for a daytime look… Help would be great for an Ask Belle!

  4. Stephanie says:

I ordered from the shopbop sale– a pair of AG coated moto jeans. Possibly not age appropriate but oh well.

  5. Lindsey says:

    Belle,
I love your blog. It provides the perfect few minute break during the work day. Now that the government is back open, and I’m going to get paid for working the last few weeks, the Thomas Street Tote is on my list.

    Thanks!

  6. Kelly says:

Would you mind commenting on Shop Bops suit sizing compared to the J Crew suiting?

  7. Addison says:

I love the IIIBeCa tote! But it’s way out of my price range so I’ll have to put it on my Christmas list. I’d love to see it in person first though. Is it available in any brick and mortar stores other than Joy Gryson’s NY store? I couldn’t seem to find anything online.

  8. Addison says:

Great, thanks! Nordstrom’s came up in the Google search alerts but the page wouldn’t load so I wasn’t sure if they really had them. I’ll go check it out, you haven’t steered me wrong yet!

  9. Jill says:

On another note, Lord and Taylor is having an incredible coat/jacket sale right now — wool, trenches, down jackets.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
