The calendar says it’s October. The weather says that it’s June. What’s a girl supposed to do? I’m ready for hot apple cider and pumpkin pie, but the weather is putting my taste for cocktails on ice.
This Rhubarb and Elderflower Mojito from The Jewels of New York (photo is theirs) is to die for. I don’t make all of the cocktails that I feature here, but this one I had to try. Luckily, I just happened to have rum, Elderflower liqueur and mint in the house. It’s tart and herbal, but completely refreshing.
French Connection Ombre Jersey Dress ($148)
This weather makes getting dressed a challenge. I’ve been getting by with sleeved jersey dresses and Old Spice deodorant. So it’s no wonder I gravitated to this dusty ombre dress from French Connection. It would be perfect with tights when the weather cools down…eventually.
Looking for some more transition dresses? This colorblocked Karen Kane dress rocks with cobalt and black. This navy v-neck dress from Ralph Lauren is also smashing. And this Carven dress has a cool neckline, and for the label, a surprisingly low price of $212.
Should you need something under-$100, start with this bright red dress with ruched details from American Living. For great basics, this KamaliKulture dress has a boatneck in black and this midi-dress from Topshop comes in a heather grey. I also really like the gathers on the skirt of this 3/4 sleeve dress from Ann Taylor.
Plus-size ladies might like this Ann Scholz dress, but the price is a bit much. So this Ralph Lauren v-neck dress in eggplant might suit you better. I also like this textured half-sleeve dress from London Times.
Petites should start with the Ann Taylor dress mentioned above, and this Libby dress from Boden.
Old Spice? Really?
True story. The unscented one is the best deodorant I have ever found.
