Happy Hour: Blackberry Bramble

Apr 19, 2013

Despite the rain in the East and the snow in the West, I’m convinced that it must be spring somewhere.  So I decided to post a delicious warm weather cocktail, just in case someone out there has a sunny day they want to enjoy.

This is the Blackberry Bramble created by the editor of Crepes of Wrath (photo is hers as well).  It combines a berry-infused syrup, gin, lemon juice and club soda for a fizzy, fun cocktail perfect for sipping on a patio or at a barbecue.  And if you’re allergic to gin, as I am, swap in vodka instead.

But what to wear?

LA Made Tank Dress ($99)

This dress is perfect for a weekend barbecue or rooftop dinner party.  I’d hike it up an inch or two and add a brown leather belt where the cinch is.

Prefer something with a sleeve? This Michael Kors dress is adorable (comes in plus and petite).  I also like this tonal-grey Alexander Wang dress.  And if you need something under-$50, try this ING dress.

Plus size? I also found this inexpensive short sleeve dress.  Petite? I dig this colored-stripe dress.

Not feeling the stripes?  I also love this trapeze-cut dress from French Connection is very poolside Palm Springs.  I also like this verdant ikat dress.  This printed t-shirt dress is nice too, and my favorite is this strapless watercolor-print dress from Parker.

Have a great weekend! See you on Monday.

Happy Hour

    Belle,

Do you have any thoughts about the Reiss pencil skirt yet? I’ve had two J.Crew skirts give way in the past month and I’ve had one Theory skirt snag and another lost to a bad dry cleaning experience so I’m desperate for a more reliable classic.

    Thanks. Love the blog.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
