1. Jo Malone Cologne ($110) // 2. Rebecca Taylor Combo Pullover ($245) and 3.1 Philip Lim Embellished Pullover ($445) // 3. Shop Your Closet Book ($20) // 4. All Saints Bolshevik Tote ($295) and Elissa Evening Clutch ($150) // 5. Giles & Brother Cortina Cuff ($125), Hive & Honey Cutout Cuff ($20), Studded Wide Bangle ($40), Wild Side Bangle ($68) // 6. Ann Demeulemeester Blazer ($1,690)

Polyvore Set Here.

One.  I never understood the obsession with Jo Malone until I visited her New York City boutique a few weeks ago.  Her light, citrusy fragrances are right up my alley.  And I love that she makes perfumed oils, because the scent lasts so much longer than cologne.  I adore her Lime Basil and Mandarin scent and her Nectarine Blossom and Honey.

If you also like citrusy scents, I usually wear Fresh Hesperides ($38) or Leila Lou ($38), which has a bit more of a musk to it.

Two.  As the weather cools down, it’s time to start thinking about sweaters for fall.  The sweaters each have a little something extra; the Rebecca Taylor has silk trim and the Phillip Lim has a sequin cuff.  I also liked the lace detail on this Roberto Scarpa Sweater ($98) and the sequins on this Merona cardigan ($25).

Three.  In addition to writing a fashion blog, I also have a small styling and closet organizing business.  Recently, an unpaid intern asked me if I had any tips for how she could reorganize her closet without spending much money.  So I referred her to the book Shop Your Closet.  It’s not quite the same as having me there forcing you to think critically about your wardrobe and why you own eight of the same striped tee (Miss M), but it’s close enough for those on a budget.

Four.  I don’t know how All Saints managed to cover a bag in that much sequins and still have it look edgy and chic, but they did.  If you like the shape, but aren’t a fan of the sparkle, the Kubrick bag mixes black leather with a black suede panel.  If you like the sequins, but not the price, this Rafe tote has a similar look at half the cost.

Five.  Bracelets are quickly becoming my favorite piece of jewelry.  These cuffs all offer a little something extra whether it be leather details, cutouts or embellishments.  Layer them with other bracelets to create the oh-so-hot arm party.

Six.  Two years ago, I walked into a vintage store in Montana and spotted a cool black suit with a to-die-for jacket.  It had a portrait collar and an asymmetric peplum.  Sadly, it was also made for a woman who weighed less than 100lbs.  I’d need to have a rib removed to be able to wear it.  So when I spotted this Ann Demeulemeester jacket, I nearly fainted.  Then, I saw the price and actually did faint.

While there is nothing quite so incredible in the lower price points, I did find two peplum blazers that fit the bill.  Romwe sells a buckled peplum blazer for $106 (though I cannot attest to the quality), and Bebe sells a folded peplum jacket for $98.

I have been wearing Jo Malone Orange Blossom for a couple of years. Pretty but definitely not overpowering. It was gifted to me and I've stuck with it, but I think I need to go explore the wide range of scents to see if it is truly my favorite.

I'd love to see a post on how to create an arm party! I have tried combining different bracelets but it never looks quite right unless they're all bangels. How do you do it when you have some bangels, some link bracelets, some big, some small. Is there a rule of thumb?

Everything in this post is perfect. I've really been loving this feature. Thanks!

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
