Belle's Weekly Favorites–September 10, 2012

Sep 10, 2012

1. Halston Heritage Mauve Draped Skirt ($480) and Badgley Mishcka Flirty Sandal ($190) // 2. Pieces Bask Leather and Metal Cuff ($31) and Forever 21 Damask Cuff ($5) // 3. O.P.I for Sephora Polish in Let’s Plie, In the Shadows and Metro Chic ($5) // 4. DvF Bentley Dress ($513) and Taupe and Dream Dress ($130) // 5. Brahmin Daisy Roll Flap Bag ($395) and Urban Expressions 9975 Clutch ($49)

Polyvore Set Here.

One. These Badgley Mischka platform sandals were the inspiration for this entire set.  I love their soft mauve color and the knot embellishment on the front.  If you like the idea of a mauve shoe to wear with rich browns and greys, Reiss also makes a pair of toe-cap snakeskin pumps in mauve and Geox has a pair of metallic-accented flats that would be lovely with jeans.

As for the skirt, the gathers are sublime in person and I love the deep mauve.  If you’re looking for a lighter shade, Halston has a jersey dress currently on sale for $191 that is also fantastic.

Two.  This damask cuff from Forever 21 packs so much style for $5 that I can barely stand it.  And if you want a cuff that achieves that balance between glam and casual, this Asos leather and metal cuff is for you.  I also love this strong gold cuff with a tortoise shell accent.

Three.  This fall, I will be painting my nails in purples, mauves, nudes and browns.  These colors by O.P.I. by Sephora are fantastic, but I’ll also be wearing some of the Hunger Games colors from China Glaze, specifically Foie Gras and Fast Track, each just $1.50.

Four. This DvF dress is high on my covet list for this season, especially in the gorgeous wine color ($428 at Intermix).  I love the ruching along the bodice (flattering on so many figures) and the asymmetrical neckline, because as Donna Karan says, “Collarbones never get fat.”

If you’re looking for brown dresses that are more on the casual side (and the affordable one), this Chinti and Parker dress is $115 and this Angora dress from Mango ($70) doesn’t appear to be long enough for work, it would look lovely with chocolate brown tights and tall boots for the weekend.

I also like this shimmering creation from Modcloth.  It would be a nice choice for holiday gatherings or autumn cocktail parties.  If you’re looking for a more grown-up version of this same concept, BCBG has a gold-metallic lace dress for $148 that captures the glamorous essence in a more mature way.

Five.  This eggplant clutch is fantastic for fall.  I would pack it on out of town trips for a functional evening bag for work dinners or vacation cocktails.  The deep color is just to.die.for.

If you wear a lot of browns and greys, this two-tone tote is for you.  The dove grey and chocolate brown is such a chic combination, that Brahmin has made my favorite bag, their feminine, structured Olivia Rose style, in the combination as well.  Like the two-tone look?  This tote bag from DSW comes in camel and black ($99) and this Aldo bag ($60) had emerald green with black accents.

This is quickly becoming my favorite post of the week! The skirt and the DvF dress are un-be-lie-va-ble. To die for.

  2. anon says:

    Cool call girl stuff!

  3. t says:

Anon – are you nuts? “Call girl stuff” . Such a classy comment says more about you than this post. The cuffs are bold, the clutch and polishes- this years color trend. Brahmin is NEVER call girl, but classic and a POWER accessory. Halston vintage or heritage beyond reproach, for pity sake…I know this skirt and the fabric is dreamy. The sequened dress is way too young for me, but there is someone out there under thirty that will be wearing it or something like it to the firms christmas bash. I could and would do dinner out in the beige number because it covers my arms and is long enough to come to my knees. Great selection of multi-use neutrals with the seasons most popular trend color for accessories, belle. Thanks for helping us stay in the box with an edge.

Dear Belle – I agree with Sarah. This post outline has become a great way to start off the week. Thanks.

  5. Norwegianette says:

I too love this feature! Now excuse me while I gawk at all the pretty stuff.

  6. Anna says:

I LOVE the heel on those platforms. Why oh why can't more shoes have that style heel? Sturdy yet feminine…perfection!

  7. Megan says:

How do the China Glaze nail polishes hold up? Over the past couple years I stopped buying anything other than OPI since it holds up so much better, but I love those China Glaze colors (and the price!)

  8. Betts says:

The price on those China Glaze polishes are the clearance price. Regular retail price is usually around $7.00. Sally's puts the limited edition shades on clearance pretty early. I love it when I catch them when they are doing a 50% off the clearance price. I was able to pick up quite of few of the Hunger Games shades for about seventy cents each.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
