10th Commandment: September 10

Sep 10, 2012

No outfit is complete until you have the right shoes.  So this week is all about footwear for fall.  It’s okay to be excited, I am.

Burgundy is always fall appropriate, but this year, it’s especially hot.  So why not invest in a pair of burgundy pumps to wear with charcoal, navy and teal?

Belle, when researching this post, did you also look at patent pumps in this shade? I have a pair that are worn into the ground and desperately need to be replaced but I cannot find a pair of burgundy patent pointed toe pumps in the 3″-5″ range despite my best efforts (Kate Space Licorice pumps are the ideal shape in my mind).

Oh, I love these! Too bad even the Paid Intern version is out of my price range.

  3. BN says:

These are suede and meant for fall/winter in DC — how can we protect them from the elements? Electing to wear them on a day that won't rain is nearly impossible here!
    Thanks in advance!

Belle: Burgundy Pumps + navy skirt = navy tights?

  5. Belle says:

BN: Take them to a cobbler and have them treated. Also invest in a suede eraser and brush.

Anna: I only wear burgundy pumps with pants for two reasons. One, I've never warmed to black and burgundy together. Too many Guido want to be IT guys have ruined that combo for me. And the tights thing is an issue, so I just stick with pants. But if you're observing the 2-out-of-3 rule, you need to match the tights to the skirt, or, gasp, wear nude hose.
