Happy Hour: Now, With Reality

Apr 27, 2012

This was the kind of week where the alarm goes off and you lie there, dreaming about Saturday, silently compiling a list of all the things you have to do before lunch.  Then, you hit the snooze repeatedly until you realize that you are grateful you have a job to go to at all in this economy, and the totality of that thought causes your feet to magically find their way to the floor.  Good girl.

Tonight, I won’t be handcrafting cocktails.  I will be drinking my favorite summertime beer from a bottle, while sitting on my roof with all of the neglected fashion magazines currently piled on my kitchen counter.

Shock Top Raspberry Wheat available at Congressional Liquor.  (You too can buy your booze where the Congressmen shop.  Just prepare yourself, the place smells like iceberg lettuce that’s been sitting out on a warm summer day. Great owners though.)

Splendid Long Sleeve Maxi ($46-$72)

Looks like a dress, feels like a nightgown.  I wear it with brown sandals and a wide brown belt.

Happy Hour

You know, I really wish this is what I was doing tonight. Beer, magazines, and some fresh air sound like a fantastic end to the week.

  3. EK says:

Another good raspberry wheat beer – Abita Purple Haze. That sounds like a perfect Friday night.

  4. C. says:

Don't love the shock top raspberry. Do love the dress.

Congressional Liquor? Interesting. As another former Hill person, the local and office favorite was always Schneider's of Capitol Hill (300 Mass. Ave. NE). Great prices, amazing selection, helpful staff, and free tastings. All around awesome.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
