Fashion's Night Out: Georgetown D.C.

Sep 7, 2011

Tomorrow is the first day of the NFL football season. So if you’re a football widow, grab your girlfriend’s and head over to Georgetown for a little retail therapy with Fashion’s Night Out.

Many of the district’s best shops will be offering discounts and special events for their patrons.  Here in D.C., Brightest Young Things partnered with Nectar Skin Bar and Dean & Deluca to create the place everyone will want to hang out.  They’ll have snacks, a DJ, great giveaways, and a complimentary lipstick bar and Oribe blowouts.

At the Nectar Store on Wisconsin, they’ll also have facials, nail polish changes and eye lash applications for early arriving patrons.  They’ll also be giving away free products and copies of the DC Scout shopping guidebook.

For the gentlemen, Hugh and Crye is hosting “Cocktails, Collars and Cuffs” at their store at 3212 O Street NW.  They’ll have a whiskey tasting and nosh from the Jack Rose Dining Saloon and live entertainment.

As for myself, I purchased tickets from GiltCity for the VIP sale and party at Hu’s Wear.  So I’ll either be there, lusting over Alexander McQueen or at Nectar Skin Bar having a manicure.  Either way, I’ll be having fun despite the dismal forecast.  Luckily, I own cute rain boots.

There’s a lot going on in Georgetown for this year’ Fashion’s Night Out.  To see a complete schedule and learn more about the event, click here.

Unrelated to this post, but I remembered that you love argan oil. There's a bunch of good deals on Chaacoca argan oil and argan oil products on Hautelook ending Thursday: https://www.hautelook.com/event/9365chaacocawb

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
