District Sample Sale Tickets On Sale Now

Sep 7, 2011

It’s almost time for the District Sample Sale.  This twice yearly event puts all of the District’s best boutiques in one place for a truly one-of-a-kind shopping experience.  And if you play your cards right, you can score styles from your favorite designers (DvF, Seven denim, Milly, etc.) and deep, deep discounts.

There are two ticket levels: General Admission, which costs $40 and VIP, which costs $100.  All proceeds from the ticket go to charity.  This year’s recipient will be WEAVE a non-profit working to end domestic violence and sexual assault and abuse.

Now, every season, someone asks me, “Is the VIP ticket worth the money?”  My answer is, yes.

The VIP ticket allows you to enter an hour early to score the best deals.  A few years back, a friend went VIP and scored a $650 coat for $110.  So she spent and extra $60 to save $540.  The VIP ticket also comes with a fabulous goodie bag and allows time to sip champagne and snack on hors d’oeuvre before the crowd becomes too large for that to be very relaxing.

Last year, my neighbor and her BFF gave each other VIP tickets to DSS as early Christmas presents. So if the price is a little steep for every day, make it a gift.

Even if you just buy the General Admission ticket, there are a lot of great deals to be had, and you certainly won’t be left out.  Luna boutique always brings tables full of denim.  And Ginger always has the cutest things, you’ll wonder why no one scooped them up sooner.

VIP tickets sell out quickly, so get your ticket today!

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
