Wednesday Giveaway: August's Birchbox

Aug 10, 2011

As you know from a recent post, I am obsessed with Birchbox.  The service delivers deluxe makeup samples products to your door every month for just $10.  I am recommending it to everyone as a way to explore new products and current trends.

This month, I somehow received two identical boxes.  So I thought that I should give one away.  Sure, I could just send it to my Mom, but there’s nothing in the box that she can really use this time.

Plus, she’s the reason I was wearing mullet between ages 6 and 12, so she’s still in the dog house for that one. (And don’t give me any crap about how it was a bi-level cut! You can call a trailer a mobile home, but it’s still a house with wheels.)

Before we get to the rules for this giveaway, let’s talk about the prize.

(This is NOT the actual box you will be receiving)

Inside the box, there are four deluxe makeup samples plus and extra little gift.  This month the box contained:

Befine Night Cream and a single-use Exfoliating Cleanser

blinc Mascara

Kate Spade New York, Twirl fragrance

LIFTLAB High Potency Solution anti-aging serum

A Twistband hair tie

Now that we know what we are playing for, here is the contest.  Step 1: Head over to the Capitol Hill Style Facebook page.  Step 2: Like the page, if you haven’t already.  Step 3: On the wall, write the name of the worst beauty product that you have ever tried and the best beauty product that you have ever tried.

The winner will be chosen at random.  Go!

P.S. And Mom, I already bought you a gift subscription.  So, next month, you will receive a Birchbox of your very own.  Who says, I can’t forgive?

I received my first Birchbox yesterday! Love it! The blinc mascara is awesome. I may have to give my DiorShow some time off…

  2. ADL says:

Love Birchbox. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

  3. E says:

And I was excited to enter this…. until I saw it's only open to people who use facebook.

I'm getting really sick of giveaways that are posted on sites other than facebook, but are only open to facebook users.

  4. TA says:

I'm so excited my first Birchbox is on its way to me!!!!!!

  5. Belle says:

E- Sorry, I wanted to do something different this time. I've also done giveaways only open to Twitter followers, and I've done some in the blog comments. They'll be another one just in the comments soon.

  6. Lexi says:

I just signed up for Birchbox because of your last post! I'd never heard of it! (for shame, I know)

  7. M says:

Us gals are waiting…has the Birchbox giveaway winner been chosen??

Does anyone really know how to dress for a rainy February? It’s not winter. It’s not spring. Sweaters seem heavy. Just a shirt feels like you’ll be cold. It’s a puzzle.

The Range: Best Picks from Ann Taylor

One of the questions that is often asked about D.C. fashion is: Why is there so much Ann Taylor? The answer is simple enough — the hemlines are long enough, the styles are easy to wear, almost everything is machine washable, and it’s easy to find pieces for professional offices or casual ones. Plus, there’s […]

The Range: Trouser Jeans

Yesterday, we chatted about not-see-through tees. Today, I want to talk about jeans. I am so grateful wide leg denim is back in a big way. And if you’re going to the office, you need a trouser style jean to see you through the week (or just casual Friday). Here are some favorites in different […]
