BPGP: Pure Perfection Night Creme

Dec 22, 2010

Yesterday, I was tweeting about the love that I feel for Ole Henriksen’s Pure Perfection Night Creme when I realized that I’ve never posted about it before.  Well, this is a grievous wrong that needs to be rectified immediately because the product is legen–wait for it–dary.

In fact, it’s so good, that it will make you forget that you need it.  Then you’ll stop using it, and things will go all haywire, and then you’ll swear next time you’ll be more diligent.

Ole Henriksen’s products are all-natural and chock full of vitamins and minerals that will leave your skin feeling amazing.  Pure Perfection (Amazon, $45) is packed with beta carotene, fruit acids, and vitamin C.

The beta carotene protects the skin from free radical damage.  This is great for women who spend time in the sun, or have existing sun damage.

The vitamin C and fruit acids exfoliate, heal irritations (acne), minimize wrinkles and increase cell turnover.

If that seems like a lot of mumbo-jumbo to you, let me explain it another way.

I’m on the 23rd day of a record breaking acne fusillade all over my face. I’ve been beating it back with every weapon in my arsenal, but since I cut back on my beauty product purchases last year, I didn’t have any Pure Perfection.  ( I know, I know, but I was trying to be fiscally responsible.)

On Tuesday, I stopped into Sephora and thought, “You know what? I’m going to buy some Pure Perfection.  Sure, it’s $45, but if it helps this nightmare on my face, it’s worth every penny.”

When I woke up Wednesday morning, after using the product just one time, my skin was 50% better.  The smaller irritations were gone.  The larger ones were less inflamed.  And the rest of my skin looked brighter, firmer and smoother.

At that moment, I looked in the mirror and said to myself, “With God as my witness, I will never buy drugstore night creme again!”

Okay, so it wasn’t that dramatic.  But Scarlett O’Hara, I’m not.

There is no amount of money that I wouldn’t pay for clearer skin because nothing makes me feel worse about myself than acne.  And yesterday, for the first time in weeks, I felt pretty.

It’s a small matter when you consider all that happens in the world, but when you look in the mirror and like what you see, it can make all the difference.  So while a night creme may not be able to change your life, it can certainly brighten your day.

Belle, is this product good for oily to combination skin?

  2. Allie says:

After seeing you rave about this on Twitter, and running out of my current meh night cream, I decided to buy a bottle of this miracle worker. I ordered it yesterday and an hour later received an email that it was already shipped out. I may have brighter days before Christmas! Thanks!

  3. Caitlin says:

Thanks for this product review! It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for to brighten my breakout prone skin during the winter. How long does a jar of Pure Perfection typically last for you?

  4. Belle says:

I can typically use a whole jar in 2-3 months depending on use. I sometimes take two days on to one day off.

Stef- I have the most combo skin ever, and the product isn't heavy at all so you should be fine. Though when it gets human I will sometimes use it every other night or just two out of three nights.

  5. Belle says:

Human? My brain's totally on vacation. I meant humid.

  6. Sarah says:

I started using this a few months ago and it has done wonders for my (oily) skin. I've loved everything I've tried from this line so far.

  7. Stephanie says:

This sounds amazing, and now I'm just trying to decide whether to go pick some up today, or whether I should wait and use the Sephora gift card that I always get in my stocking at Christmas. I can't believe I'm even considering going to a mall this week!

  8. Ms. B says:

It is my favorite product…hands down.

  9. Belle says:

    Stephanie-

Go get a sample. And if you love it, go buy the full size.

  10. ec says:

SERIOUSLY?!? I just finished a sample I got from Sephora, but I only used it as an eye cream because I was afraid it would make my skin break out. I am also in the middle of a 9th grade breakout and have tried 10 different things in the last 2 months. At least now I have another excuse to stop by Sephora again…

  11. Marie-Christine says:

Wait a minute… You're saying you were using this stuff, and soon after you stopped you got the worst acne you've had in years, and as soon as you use it things are better? I hate to be a party pooper, but you should at least consider that this might be causing the acne.. The drug industry loves stuff that you must keep using or you're worse than you were before.

  12. Jaime says:

Belle – I am so with you on this line! I also have oily/acne prone skin (lucky me) and recently tried the Three Little Wonders Gift pack as a last resort in a month of terrible breakouts (thanks stress!). WOW! I also noticed an immediate effect on red spots and have not had any breakouts since. I am so relieved to have found something that is helping…only someone who suffers from breakouts can understand the joy!

  13. Belle says:

    Marie-Christine-

First off, this product is made by a cosmetic companiy in Sweden not a drug manufacturer. Secondly, I stopped using it months ago, the breakup was caused by stress from the lame duck session and eating garbage from the Rayburn Cafeteria.

And I didn't say the breaxout went away, I said it was miles better.

  14. Allie says:

So my tub of this cream arrived yesterday. Last night I washed my face as usual, and then used this all over (it says to put around eye area as well as face). Slept maybe six hours, and not the most restful sleep. However I woke with plump, soft, hydrated but not greasy skin. My skin looked softer, more glowing and younger than it has in a very long time. I am a convert!

  15. Norwegianette says:

Ole Henriksen is Danish, actually. He's the funniest old guy, and whenever he goes on TV he brings his wife to demonstrate the products on her and you can just se how much he loves her, it's soooo cute!

  16. Adrienne says:

Thanks for reviewing this! I've seen a few celebrities touting his products, but you never know if they work in real life.

  17. Stephanie says:

Thank you for posting about this product! I did go and get a sample, and I know I'll be purchasing a full-sized jar soon. I'm so glad to have found something that moisturizes without causing breakouts, because I will use it religiously. It cleared up the dry skin I'd been struggling with, and made my skin feel SO soft, but not at all greasy. It makes my skin feel fresh, rather than clogged and heavy (like most moisturizers).

At my grandma's over Christmas, my cousin was lamenting how pregnancy has been making her break out; she did have a number of bright red zits on her face, which is usually clear. I let her use some of this and she woke up Christmas morning with the size and redness of the spots reduced. She'll be purchasing some, too!

  18. Kim says:

This particular product doesn't work for my skin for some reason, but I second (or third, or whatever) your recommendation for this line! The Blemish Attack Purifying Mask does wonders for my breakouts and I love the Firm Action Mask as well. If you haven't tried them, I would definitely recommend at least getting samples of one or both on your next trip to Sephora!

  19. Belle says:

I've never tried the blemish mask, but I will now.
