Happy Hour: Deep Crimson

Tibi Pleated Metallic Dress (Net-a-Porter, $400)

It’s time to start stocking up for the Holiday party season.  This pleated cotton dress is perfect for early Fall events and yule tide get togethers.  I would wear it with a long boyfriend jacket, a pair of platform heels and a studded clutch.

While the FDA may take issue with advertising claims that pomegranates are a miracle cure, you can’t deny that the seedy fruits are mighty tasty.  And they are especially delicious when mixed into an adult beverage.

This cocktail combines the rich flavor of pomegranate with hints of citrus.  Perfect for the Holidays, but really, who can wait that long?

Citrus and Pomegranate Cocktail

1 1/2 cup(s) grapefruit or orange juice
1 1/2 cup(s) pomegranate juice
1 1/2 cup(s) ice cubes, plus more for serving
3/4 cup(s) Campari
6  twists orange zest, or 6 thin slices of seedless orange

Combine grapefruit (or orange) juice, pomegranate juice, and ice cubes in a blender. Blend until the ice is very finely chopped and the mixture is foamy and pale pink.

Transfer to a pitcher and stir in Campari. Serve over ice, garnished with a twist or slice of orange.

I'm so glad you featured this drink, Belle! I drink Campari regularly ever since I studied in Italy. I had some in the cabinet, so I dashed out for juice and we enjoyed these before dinner. Simply wonderful. If you get yourself a bottle of this and want to mix it up, try making a spritz or a campari macchiato (watered down with sparkling white wine).
