Monday Giveaway: Michelle Watch

Aug 9, 2010

On Wednesday, yours truly will be featured in the Society Stylist’s 31 Days of the Little Black Dress style event.  Thanks to my participation, I received a lovely package of goodies including a MICHELE Tahitian Jelly Bean Chronograph Watch.  But instead of keeping this fabulous timepiece for myself, I thought that I should spread the love and give the watch away to one of my readers.

The watch has a stainless steel case with black accents, and a flexible silicone strap.  It features Swiss Quartz movement and three chronograph subdials.  The watch retails for $295.

It’s a really cool watch if you’re looking for something a bit different.  It is also fully functional (of course, I checked), and would make a great addition to any wardrobe.

To win this watch, you must leave a note in the comments section of this post (and this post only!) identifying yourself whether you are a stickler for being on time or someone who is habitually late.  The winner will be announced on Friday in the Weekly Reading.

So are you feeling lucky?

I’m a timeliness chameleon. For work, classes and important things, I’m a stickler for punctuality. For everything else, I go with the flow. While I can usually manage my time, most of my friends are perpetually late. I realized it was silly to stress myself out by always being early and having to wait, so now I make myself run late in order to be “on-time” with my friends.

  2. Serena says:

    I’m a late person. I know it’s annoying – I even annoy myself when I’m late.

  5. CapitolBites says:

I can’t stand being late. I would rather be 10 minutes early.
I guess that is why I have been wearing a watch since I was a little kid.

  6. AL says:

I’m a stickler for being on time (and usually get to places early b/c of it)…and one of my pet peeves is people who are habitually late, it’s just not polite to keep others waiting when you set a specific meeting time. Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. Allie says:

I used to be late… ALWAYS. I can’t be on time so now I am someone who is always terribly early. I show up, and then bring a book or play with my phone or s-l-o-w-l-y sip a glass of wine at the bar until the rest of the party shows up.

  8. Emily says:

    I HATE to be late!!

  9. dcbunny7 says:

always on time! being late gives me anxiety

  10. Paige J says:

Starting my first full time job, I am beginning to become aware that pulling my cell out to check the time is not chic. I need this watch because I have to be everywhere 15 minutes early and my clients are looking at me funny when I pull out my berry. And the watch is so cute and different. Please help!

  11. Lindsay says:

I despise being late. Unfortunately, I find that Metro makes it impossible to be on time…

  12. t l me says:

Sign me up. Love the watch. Love the blog. Thanks for sharing and good luck too all

  13. D says:

I am always early/on-time for work-related things, and ridiculously late for personal things. Maybe a watch would help? 🙂

  14. cpn says:

I’ll admit ….I’m usually late, such an ugly character trait!

  15. Tory says:

    My motto:
Early is on time, and on time is late.

I am always 10 minutes early, to everything. I cannot stand being late to things. I would rather be early and kill time in the boutique next door or shoot an email or two from the ol’ Blackberry than show up late. cringe

  16. Katherine says:

I feel lucky! I’m definitely an on-time stickler. I get so stressed out when something beyond my control holds me up (I’m looking at you, metro).

  17. Alice says:

I have a bad habit of being awkwardly early–which is sometimes just as bad as being late.

  18. Amanda says:

I’m either five minutes early or five minutes late, but exactly on time. And, as most DC folks, it alternates depending on whether or not the wonderful Washington Metro is actually working.

  19. KLo says:

I am a formerly-late person, too! One day I got tired of apologizing, bought a GPS, set all my clocks 5 minutes fast and started leaving 15 minutes earlier than I need to. Sadly, I haven’t found a watch I can love. That MICHELE watch would be the perfect final element to make me on time! Thanks for your generosity!

  20. annie g says:

I think one of the classiest things a girl can do is to be on time! You can’t always control a bad hair day, but being punctual always looks good.

I try to set my clocks early and aim to be 10 minutes early to just about everything!

  21. SJ says:

I am most usually early… especially in DC when you have to plan so much extra time to get anywhere in case the metro is screwed up or you can’t find a cab.

  22. Apples says:

I am always on time. Keeping other people waiting is rude. Time is precious to everyone; when you don’t show up on time, you are taking away another person’s date with a spouse, lunch with a friend, walk with a child, or precious moment ralaxing alone. A good rule to go by is that if you aren’t 10 minutes early, then you are 15 minutes late–because sh*t inevitably happens!
Amazing giveaway, Belle! Keep up the great posts!

  23. Trang says:

I live and die by time management. My iPhone wakes me in the morning and alerts me to my appointments and whatever deadlines I have. My iPad manages my emails and keeps track of all calendar events. I am never ever late–short of my two year old throwing up on me or my outright protest of an event.

The watch would make me look less “geeky and neurotic” and maybe add some style to my usual jeans and crewnecks wardrobe.

  24. Bailey says:

I have actually never owned a watch in my whole life but I hate being late! Save me from constantly searching through my purse to find my cell phone to check the time!

  25. Caroline J says:

I hate being late, but even more, I hate looking at my phone to find out what time it is. A snazzy watch would be just what I need.

  26. Five minutes early is being “on-time.” 🙂

  27. amy r says:

I’m always early, so much so that I keep books and magazines in my car and purse to keep my occupied while I wait for appointments, reservations, etc, running late is just a stressful way to start the day!

  28. Marta says:

Apparently, I am one of few people who read this blog and who is habitually late. Good for everyone! I am usually 10-15 minutes late, and I wish I were better at it! I suppose a stylish watch would help…

  29. Megan says:

I hate being late…and yet somehow, I almost always am. I grew up in a little town and moved here a year ago, and I haven’t quite gotten used to how long it takes to go anywhere. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  30. Sarah says:

I am always either exactly on time or a little early. My band director in highschool (dorky, I know) had the following saying: “To be early is to be on time, to be ontime is to be late, and to be late is to be unthinkable”. After 4 years of hearing that every day it’s been pretty much ingrained in me.

  31. Marianne says:

I am always 5-10 minutes late. I know it’s rude, but even when I focus on getting out the door in time, I always find myself getting distracted.

  32. L says:

When I have to worry about external factors affecting my travel (metro delays, traffic, etc.), I am early, sometimes excessively so (At the airport 3 hours early for a recent flight? Check). Making the 5-minute walk to work? Not so much. I rush around doing last-minute tasks and never manage to get to work before 9:05. Luckily my office is pretty laid-back!

  33. Dr. Jean Grey says:

I’m not going to ask for the watch because it’s just not my style. But, I want to make it known now I will only ask for things I REALLY REALLY want and need to perhaps improve my chances of winning later…so just put that in your cap, Belle. I plan on being a very thoughtful, considerate beggar, lol. I will not try to take from someone who may want a giveaway more badly than me! Good luck to everyone.

  34. Anne says:

I like to be early but am often thwarted by my poor sense of direction.

  35. Always on time, because I know all too well how annoying it is when someone else shows up late and wastes my time.

  36. Linh says:

always on time compared to my friends… but that means im 10 minutes late instead of 30 minutes late!

  37. Amy says:

My mantra in college: I’m not 10 minutes late, the world is 10 minutes early.

But since I’ve joined the workforce as a real person with a very real daily staff meeting at 8 a.m.? 15 minutes early is now on time.

  38. K. Hill says:

As crazy as it is, I am on time for everything BUT my 9-5 job lol. I semi-blame Metro but I also accept the fact that i hit the snooze button on my alarm clock at least 5 times every morning, wasting an hour that I could be up getting fabulous. Ah well!

  39. Allison says:

Great watch, please enter me in the give away! I am generally a late person, I tend to wander and am easily distracted. Although now that I am older, I’ve forced myself to be more timely because it is rude and disrespectful to be late. (Also, I am a grad student, walking into class late is just so embarassing!)

  40. Kim says:

Socially – a little late. I hate being first and having not many to choose from for conversation.
Work – Early, where my co-workers are habitually late. Though I know that every meeting begins late, I show up early and prepared – pen, paper, past documents, & coffee, so that I have the upper hand when others feel bad for making me wait. And people think I’m really together, whether I am or not (getting there!).

  41. Trina says:

I am ALWAYS on time, which in my book is 5-10 minutes early! And a great looking watch like this one will always keep me on time!

  42. Sara says:

I am on time for work and late for personal events. My family now tells me that events start 30 minutes before they do so that I will be on time.

  43. Liz T says:

I try to plan on being five minutes early for everything. I feel much better walking into a work related event calm and collected instead of frantic and sweaty because I had to run the parking garage stairs to get there on time. This may have happened this morning…

  44. Elizabeth says:

I cannot STAND to be late. I keep all my watches/clocks at home 3-5 minutes ahead to make sure I’m out the door when appropriate!

  45. C says:

I hate being late. I started my first day as an intern for the DA’s office, they sent me to court ahead of the DA’s to watch. At exactly 8:27, the judge came in -none of the DA’s were there yet. Judge called the first name, asked if he was ready for trial, he said yes. Judge looked around, seeing none of the DA’s asked me who i was, I explained, he asked if I was registered for practice, I am not. Having no representative from the State, the judge dismissed the case. This was repeated four times before a DA arrived. My butt is always in court by at least 8:15.

  46. Emily says:

Being late is my pet peeve. I am often freakishly and awkwardly early for events because I am too anxious about being late.

  47. MLD says:

It really depends who I am meeting, where I am meeting them, when I am meeting them. Sometimes I am early, sometimes I am late. Love the watch!

  48. Julie says:

I am ashamed to say I am always late.

  49. Bee says:

I always have great intentions of being on time but somehow I’m always running behind. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a great watch?

  50. Janet says:

I am a total stickler for being on time. For this reason, my watch is usually 5 minutes fast so I am always on time!

  51. Kate says:

Being late is not an option.

  52. Stacy says:

    Usually late…

  53. Meghan says:

I’m always early, usually by about fifteen minutes.
Sadly this does not jive well with my boyfriend’s habit of running fifteen minutes late. 🙂

  54. CRD says:

I’m a stickler for being on time. As an elementary school teacher, I have to set a good example for my students! I also do this by trying to look my most stylish every day… 🙂

  55. Allison P says:

I’m always on time and most of the time early! My mom, on the other hand, always late! I’d like to give this watch to her. She’s the type of person who sets her clocks fast in order to make it somewhere relatively “on-time.” If I want her somewhere I have to tell her to be there 15 minutes before everyone else (without her finding out!) and she’ll make it. She is also someone who really tries to be fashionable and has given me great guidance in the past, most importantly, on a very small budget! She bought me my first watch when I was a little girl so I would love to give her one back!

  56. LL says:

It’s kind of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing. I have the loftiest aspirations to be Dr. Right on Time, but in the end I always end up transforming in to the Mr. I’m consistently walking in the door just as whatever it is is starting (so everyone turns around to glower).
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  57. MnM says:

I am early for being early!

  58. KS says:

    Late – perpetually late.

Seeing as my July resolution was to put an end to as many dirty habits as possible, and July has quickly turned into August with little change, a cute watch to help me be on time can’t but help!

    Thanks, Belle!

  59. Erica says:

I hate being late, especially when it’s due to the DC Metro system!

  60. Rachel says:

I hate being late. But as a single mom, it’s sort of become a thing. Maybe this shiny new watch will help.

  61. Katie says:

I am such a stickler for being on time to work that I set two alarms so I don’t sleep in!

  62. Jenn says:

I am habitually on time or early. God only knows how this occurs as I was raised on a habitually late family. My parents and siblings are about 10-20 minutes later for everything, and it drove me crazy as a kid.

  63. lisalisa says:

unfortunately always late, and i blame it on my asianness every time.

  64. Sarah A says:

I’m an extreme, I’m always either super late or super early. When I took the Bolt Bus to NYC, I got to Union Station 2 hours early. Although part of that was because my ride could only leave then…

  65. Lauren says:

I am always late despite leaving 15 minutes early and EVERY clock, cell phone, computer in my home/office is different. No matter how many times I reset them. I’ve had a few watches which all have died and I’d love to have a bold classic watch which would actually last. Who knows, maybe that will be the cure to my constant running behind

  66. Michele says:

Reasons I would love to have this watch: 1) It’s my name!!!; 2) Looked for this style at Nordstrom Pentagon City on Saturday and they were out of black (my favorite color); and 3) Timeliness is next to godliness and wearing this watch would be just heavenly!

  67. AJ says:

I hate being late! I try to always be 5 minutes early, at least.

  68. Sarah says:

Always late…. a terrible habit, I know, and I really do try to get places on time, but I just can’t seem to get it together.

  69. Debbie says:

I am someone who wishes I could be on time. I meticulously plan, schedule, and will sometimes set multiple alarms to ensure I am ontime. However it seems that no matter how hard I try I am always late– though I can always guess exactly how late I will be–to the minute!

  70. Leah S. says:

    Professionally, always early.

Personally, not so much. Sometimes it’s on purpose, sometimes I’ve just taken too long trying to decide which earrings I’ll wear out the door. Hmmm…the gold ones, the silver ones, the studs, the chandelier? (Pose in front of mirror…change earrings, repeat…totally obnoxious)

With this beaut of a watch I could at the very least show up fashionably late and maybe, with one less decision to make, I could actually be on time.

  71. Westleigh says:

I only seem to run late on Mondays, with this watch it would encourage me to start the week off on a better more stylish note

  72. Hae says:

i used to always be early, but got tired of waiting on people who were always late. now, i’m always late and it has become a bad habit!! i have started to leave about 10-15 minutes earlier than i normally would, in hopes to revert back to being more punctual. LOVE the watch. the androgynous nature of it is just what a fashionista in dc would be proud to sport.

  73. Megan E says:

I am always early, and my boyfriend is always late. It drives me insane.

  74. Jill says:

Belle, it’s extremely generous of you to give this cool watch away. Not putting myself in the running, as I have a lovely watch. Just wanted to say thank you and best of luck to the gals who need a watch.

  75. YaYa says:

I am so much a stickler for being on time that I always arrive early to events/functions. I typically schedule my day to the minute and I know how precious my “freetime” is (and how hard it is to come by) so I don’t like to leave others waiting for my arrival.

  76. Richele says:

While I always have aspirations of arriving somewhere early, it never fails that that some sort of disaster occurs right before I’m supposed to leave, so usuallyend up being late.

  77. Kris Liz says:

Since I am a professional scheduler, I have no choice but to be on time! (Despite my previous proclivity for pressing snooze on the alarm clock…)

  78. Ameline says:

I was always on time until I met my husband. He is perpetually at least 20 minutes late, so I learned to be late with him, and it has, sadly trickled into my other (non-professional) engagements.

  79. Jaime says:

According to Wikipedia, I suffer from the following : Optimism Bias: it is the demonstrated systematic tendency for people to be over-optimistic about the outcome of planned actions. This includes over-estimating the likelihood of positive events and under-estimating the likelihood of negative events.

So, there you have it! Always late..but happy!

  80. Erica says:

I am either awkwardly early or two minutes late–I can’t seem to find a happy medium.

  81. nicole w says:

generally 10 min late to everything… but i come by it honestly. so are both parents…

  82. Lizzie says:

I would LOVE to be early, but I’m usually right on time…..or late. Sigh, maybe I should make this my mid-year’s resolution!

  83. Amy says:

I usually shoot for being five minutes early – I hate being late.

  84. Emma says:

Always on time, even if it means my hair is still wet.

  85. Madelyn says:

Unlike the rest of my family, being late gives me anxiety. Generally I give anyone that I’m planning on doing something with a “fake exit time” so that I know for certain that we will be on time (frustrating to some of my “late” friends who prove me wrong and show up at the time I give them, intending for them to show up a half an hour later… whoops!).

I think this watch would be a great addition to my wardrobe and facilitate my need for being prompt!

  86. chloe m. says:

I am always late, a fault that has caused many trials and tribulations in life, yet I never seem to break the habit. Help me!

  87. Melissa says:

    That is just gorgeous.

I am habitually late, but I hate it. I feel that it’s just so rude and unprofessional. I think the reason I do this is that I completely zone out on commutes… for example, if I’m traveling somewhere, I remember leaving and arriving and forget all the uninteresting bits in the middle, so I always underestimate how long it will take me to get somewhere. I always leave the house when I expect to leave (in other words, getting ready isn’t what makes me late) but arrive a good 10 minutes later than I planned to arrive.

Luckily, this make me very forgiving when someone else is late. I know it’s not purposefully disrespectful, it’s just part of life sometimes.

  88. Christina says:

I’m always late. I’m too ambitious when it comes to what I can get done before I need to be somewhere.

  89. MK says:

I am (still) always on time, despite my numerous attempts to adjust to the fact that everyone on the hill arrives fashionably late to meetings, briefings, etc. The watch looks awesome and would be great to stare at while I wait for everyone else when I inevitably arrive early and have to be the awkward girl in the corner!

  90. Mary says:

I am a stickler for being on time!

  91. Angela says:

    Habitually late!

  92. Meg says:

If I’m not 15 minutes early, I already feel late. Hurray for type-a personalities!

  93. Denise B says:

I grew up with a dad who was in the military, and then (for some crazy reason) sold my soul to my high school’s marching band. While those two facts don’t necessarily seem related, they both have the same motto: Early is on time, on time is late, late is left behind.

  94. B McLean says:

always on time, or maybe a little early…

  95. Alexandra says:

I LOVE it! I’m a stickler for being on time, and unfortunately, my reliable, decade old Swiss Army fell out of repair about a week ago! This would be the PERFECT solution!

  96. Daniela says:

I like to think I’m on South American time. That being said, who can be on time when you have to fight packs of tourists and evil Red line delays? Who?

  97. Lin says:

My father is a marine so my entire life my dad has been read to go at least 15 minutes before we actually have to walk out of the door and I believe i have inherited this gene. I cannot stand being late and would much rather be a bit early to make a run for the bathroom and make sure I don’t have crazy hair or something before my friends arrive. Thanks so much for a great giveaway!

  98. Jessica says:

I dislike being late. I don’t think my time is any more important than others, so why make them wait? I have a bad habit of underestimating time, and of always being five or ten minutes late, thus my clocks are always set a little ahead. I think a time teller on my wrist would do me good, because my blackberry isn’t always attatched to my hand.

  99. Elle says:

    I’m a latey late…

  100. Andrea says:

I HATE people who aren’t punctual. Definitely an on-time stickler!

  101. Jaimee says:

I usually run about 5 minutes late.

  102. Diana says:

I would prefer to be an hour early than five minutes late. I have such anxiety about being late anywhere!

What a gorgeous watch! You are too generous.

  103. Liz says:

Alas…I like to be on time, but often run 5 minutes late. Never early. Life is too full to be early–on time is my goal.

  104. ST says:

Growing up in a family of planners, as I did, it’s hard not to be a stickler for timeliness. I can’t stand being less than ten minutes early these days.

  105. Pamela says:

I am always, always early. I’ve been known to show up for big appointments 30, even 45, minutes early rather than run the risk of getting delayed in transit. It’s always nice to have a little extra time to stop in Starbucks, pull yourself together and compose your thoughts before truly important engagements, anyway.

  106. Maureen H says:

My grandmother always told me, “It’s better to be an hour early than five minutes late.” She was right…except when you wear a watch, you don’t have to worry about either problem.

I am a stickler for being on time a firm believer that a wearing a watch makes the ultimate statement: “I value my time AND yours.”

  107. CML says:

i am a stickler for maintaining a schedule, which includes always being on time… but having never found the perfect watch, maintaining punctuality isn’t always so easy!! needless to say – this watch looks perfect!

  108. Meg says:

I’m always, always early because of a hereditary fear of being late. My great grandfather was always insanely early. Once, my grandmother showed up to meet him at a doctor’s appointment two hours early. About 15 minutes before the appointment she asked reception if he’d come by and maybe she’d just missed him. Nope. He’d already seen the doctor and left BEFORE my grandmother got there. Thankfully I’m not that insane, but I’m always punctual!

  109. A.H. says:

I am a summer intern and love your blog! I am always early and love to have a stylish watch instead of a phone to check the time.

  110. Maggie says:

My manta regarding timeliness is that it is most polite to be perfectly punctual. As a child, my mother was always at least 10 minutes late to everything, and now, being even a few minutes behind makes me anxious. On the flip side, I dislike being more than few minutes early; I don’t like that feeling of panic when someone arrives 15 minutes early and I’m not ready for them yet.

  111. sGe says:

I always have to be early and freak out when I’m running behind.

  112. Princess Freckles says:

I try my best to be on time, but I’m always!! Maybe the watch will help? 🙂

    Have a great day!

  113. Anna says:

I am on time on time on time! I hate being late… today I was so stressed out because people showed up at my place a half hour before I told them to and I wasn’t there yet! I would chill out wearing that watch though…

  114. MG says:

Stickler for being on time, but try to time it just right so I don’t get too frustrated with those that are not as punctual.

  115. Kat says:

    I was always on time or early…until I had a baby….

  116. peggy says:

if i’m not 10 minutes early i consider myself late.

  117. Patrycja says:

    I am never late!
In my opinion, it’s extremely inconsiderate and rude when a person isn’t on time.
Let’s respect each others time people!

  118. Kristen L says:

Always early. NEVER late. Sometimes I feel like timeliness is the only thing I can control!

  119. steph says:

it’s so hard to be on time when you have a 6 month old!

  120. abvv says:

I am habitually 5 minutes, which I regard as fully within the allowable “clock differential” zone: the clocks in my apartment, the clocks in my office, and the clocks are the Metro are never synchronized, so there is always that 5 minutes in which you could be on time in reference to one clock and late in reference to the other. I thereby assume the “clock differential” is in my favor.

  121. raquel says:

I’m a timeliness chameleon. For work, classes and important things, I’m a stickler for punctuality. For everything else, I go with the flow. While I can usually manage my time, most of my friends are perpetually late. I realized it was silly to stress myself out by always being early and having to wait, so now I make myself run late in order to be “on-time” with my friends.

  122. Serena says:

    I’m a late person. I know it’s annoying – I even annoy myself when I’m late.

  123. BRM says:

I try to be early but somehow find myself always running late!

  124. Victoria says:

Oh, I’m always a few minutes late. I don’t count the small things that add up – walking from the house to the car, brushing my teeth, whatever.

  125. Paige says:

Always always on time. I get so stressed when I’m running even a few minutes late!

  126. Heather says:

My biggest pet peeve is people who habitually run late. I only take off my watch to shower (can you say control issues) and I will never understand people who just use their phone to check the time. Thanks for a great givewaway!

  127. Emily says:

I hate being late–especially in professional settings. I usually keep my phone on me, but as I go to more and more meetings, I hate toting my non-Blackberry phone around. This watch is amazing!

  128. Allie says:

I’m SUCH a stickler for being on time…and most of my friends are ALWAYS late, so I often end up sitting around for ten minutes or so waiting for them!

  129. Carol A.G. says:

more often than not a few minutes late, I’m sorry to say.

  130. Ant says:

I am always early. (My dad was always late everywhere, it’s rebellion.) My favorite phrase when I was coaching and the kids were late, again, was “early is on time, on time is late.” They were in high school, they didn’t get the picture.

  131. Melissa says:

I’m the girl that’s habitually early and unapologetic about it!

  132. MCWS says:

My son’s high school music teacher told him — and he admonished me as we prepared to go to a college interview — that “to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be dead.” Punctuality, however, should not come at the sacrifice of aesthetics.

  133. Chelsea G. says:

I am also habitually late, but usually because of the metro!

  134. Nomes says:

I strive to be on time and am usually chronically early. The internet-enabled phone has been a godsend for me; now I have something to do when sitting around waiting for my on-time or late friends!

  135. Megan says:

I am always early… trait of an impatient person!

  136. Henry Lum says:

I’m a person that gets on time and likes to take precarious thoughts before making a move. I would usually wake up 15 minutes earlier than the majority of my co workers wake up , just to get to the office on time – ya dig? Ever since I moved out of my parents , I gradually knew when to wake up. Like for example , I don’t even have a clock besides my bed yet , I wake up at 8 a.m. everyday. But , since the fall is coming , I think it’s time I buy a new watch. My old watch died on me in June and I haven’t really gotten the time to buy a new one. To end this , yes I’m a stickler of getting on time.

  137. Cathy says:

I usually start the day by arriving early, but have a difficult time putting down one task until I feel like I absolutely have to leave for the next thing. So if there is any kind of hold up, such as running into a friend or worse than usual traffic, I become progressively later throughout the day.

  138. Stephanie says:

Mostly I’m a stickler for being on time, but I know enough that if DC traffic is involved, lateness within reason is excusable. Damned 14th St bridge!

  139. Christin says:

    I hate being late.

  140. ekc says:

Always on time for work and social events, not necessarily early though. My core group of friends consists of two who are ALWAYS running 30 minutes to an hour late and another friend who is consistently 15 minutes early. Needless to say, we typically get a couple drinks in before the late ones arrive to ease the frustration of waiting =)

  141. Kelsey says:

My father taught me at a young age to always be at least five minutes early. I remember driving with him as a young girl while he explained to me why all the car clocks were set five minutes ahead. i kept up this same principle until my watch broke in June. i took that thing with me every where. Hiking, back packing, and it timed my first marathon. it made sure I was early for class and promptly at work. Sadly, it couldn’t stand to be submerged in a pool.

  142. NatCraft says:

I always wear a watch because I believe adults should know the time without having to pull out a cellphone. My watch, along with my alarm clock, and the clock in my car are all set 5 – 10 minutes fast so I’m rarely more than 15 minutes late. Yes, even this adult has room for improvement!

  143. Bonnie says:

I am ALWAYS late. Not very much, just a couple minutes. On good days, I slip into the meeting right as the minute hand hits twelve.

  144. Mariel says:

I’d rather be waiting on others than have them wait on me. I’d say I’m usually on time…at least in my eyes 😉

  145. Nikki says:

I used to be one of those people that was always, constantly, perpetually late until I resorted to tricking myself by setting my watch/cell phone to run 5-7 minutes fast. One would think I would remember this little maneuver, but, lucky for me, I forget more often than not–which has led me to become a person who is not only not late but also… early.

Recently, however, my watch broke. My Blackberry is too smart to be set to run fast an insists on showing the correct time. Belle, I need this watch to maintain my new timely way of life.

    Please?

  146. Marisa says:

In college, I was always so late that my friends began calling me the human rain delay, referencing the way a baseball game is postponed when it rains. To this day some of them still call me that, even though ever since I began teaching I am on time!

  147. CityGirl says:

“If a girl looks swell when she meets you, who gives a damn if she’s late? Nobody.”
    -Holden Caulfield, C/O JD Salinger

    I’m inclined to agree.

  148. Meredith S. says:

Professionally I am a stickler for punctuality, though I must say that in social settings I am habitually late.

  149. TA says:

I hate being late and dislike people who are running late. Not only does it stresses me out but it’s plain rude! I try to be at least 10-15 early to all appointments/meetings.

Sad thing is I don’t have a watch so I have to use my BB as my clock! This watch would be nice to have.

  150. Noile says:

Hate, hate, hate being late — I’ll arrive at a new destination an hour early, if I possibly can, rather than risk being even five minutes late.

  151. pboyd says:

I am always rushing to get places on time even though I have given myself extra time.

  152. Lou says:

I hate being late. My husband, is perpetually tardy and it is one of my least favorite qualities in him. I bought him a Tag Hauer watch for his birthday a couple of years ago, hoping it would help him. It didn’t. Now I say, the heck with him. I want the nice watch!

  153. Valerie says:

I’m always on time….if it’s really important. I’ve never missed a flight or been late for a work meeting, but I’m habitually late for dates, happy hours, and other informal meetings!

  154. dm58 says:

Sad to say, but it depends! I am really neither a stickler or a habitual offender. I try to be on time, and most of the time I am. Unfortunately, I must admit that even after nearly (gasp) thirty years of dressing myself daily and fifteen years of applying makeup, I STILL grossly underestimate the amount of time it will take to make myself presentable!!! seriously! I am on time to work and normal outings, but if any event requires the LEAST amount of unusual thought or care to my appearance, well . . . . Let’s just say, my hot hubbers has learned to fix a cocktail and be patient! Sweet man.

  155. Gina says:

I am always early. I’d rather sit in my car and wait then be late.

  156. Heather says:

I am ALWAYS on time or early.

  157. KR says:

I recently accepted a promotion and I will need to report to work an hour earlier than my previous schedule. The Michelle watch will be a great addition to my fall wardrobe and ensure that I make a good first impression by arriving to the office early looking stylish, professional, and ready to work on day one!

  158. Aleigh says:

In cohesion with my chronic disorganization and lack of directional skills, I am always either late or RIGHT on time. But I try!

  159. Nancy says:

I do really try to be on time. It doesn’t always seem to work out though. Even this morning, the security guard at my workplace commented on how I always seem to be in a rush, and I told him it’s because I’m always running a little late!

  160. Kate says:

    I wouldn’t say I’m a stickler for being on time…though I don’t enjoy being late either.
I believe being on time, plus or minus 5-10 minutes is acceptable and works best for me…and my sanity.

  161. Suburban Sweetheart says:

Oh my gosh, this watch is totally beautiful. I HATE being late, but… I almost always am. All attempts to not be late result in still being late or arriving woefully, embarrassingly early.

  162. Rachel says:

I am constantly underestimating how long it takes to drive from one place to another in the DC area, even though I grew up here and should know better. Wishful thinking, I guess!

  163. Elisa says:

I am guilty of being a tardy person. For years I thought that if I was 5-10 minutes late, I was still on time! My husband has accepted it and now tells me we are leaving 30 minutes earlier that we need to if the event is really important.

  164. Rosaline00 says:

Always on time. One of my best friends is always late. I’ve been giving her “fake” times for years, and even then (with a 30 minute buffer), I’m usually there before her.

  165. LPU says:

I’m habitually running 2-5 minutes behind. Unless of course my boss isn’t around and it doesn’t matter whether I’m on time — then I’m always early! Thanks for the great giveaway! Adorable watch.

  166. Amy says:

A stickler for being on time who is [unfortunately] habitually late. Blame it on the DC traffic?

  167. Jill says:

5 minutes early is on time. 10 is better. Watches help.

  168. Janeace says:

    On time or early! usually…

  169. kristin f says:

until wmata came into my life, i was ALWAYS early. now getting to the metro in a timely manner is a struggle, because it's not like it will get me to work on time anyway! not that i wouldn't love to do it in a more stylish manner…

  170. theeieeioo says:

I strive to be on time, but sadly I am almost always late….I normally blame the metro system, although honestly its probably countless outfit changes that are the cause.

  171. WhitRaye says:

Professinally, always early….Socially, always late! When it's a social function I just can't seem to get it together regardless of how early I start getting ready. If I treated my social life like work, my family, friends and boyfriend would be so much happier. This adorable watch might help 😉

    Great Contest! Thanks Belle!

  172. SKS says:

Belle, you posted this entry on Monday, and yet here we are on a Thursday afternoon and I am just now getting around to commenting to the post. Clearly you can see that a beauitful watch (with time AND date) would help this poor, late soul. 🙂

P.S. Great idea for a contest! Thank you 🙂

  173. Ary says:

Tend to be late although I always try to be early…maybe this super cute watch will help me out!

  174. CJ says:

I hate being late, but I will still be late for my own funeral.

  175. Molly says:

I'm always on time. People who are always late drive me crazy!

  176. JM says:

I am always on time, if not early. It actually takes more effort for me to not be too early for things! (I usually end up being the first person to arrive, which is a bit uncomfortable at times…) I hate when people are late, it gives the impression that they either think the world revolves around them or don't think anything/one is important enough for the extra effort it takes them to be on time.
That being said, the watch should go to someone who actually cares about the time 🙂

  177. Kalee says:

I am the perpetually on time person, I freak out if anything causes me to be late. Strangely I don't have a watch, I just keep my eye on a clock.

  178. mike wilson says:

I used to be on time…until I got married, that is. Now I live in my wife's time zone which has a half hour delay.

  179. Lauren says:

I LOVE the watch! I am either on time or late depending on if my friend is late/early. If I'm not sure, I'm ALWAYS early! Hmm, this watch will go so well with my LBD!

  180. Kim Anderson says:

Being late really burns my biscuits. Hate, hate hate it! With that said…I always seem to be running a bit behind 🙁 Maybe this watch will be my cure.

    Kim A.

  181. SeaDee says:

    I am a military brat….embarassed I am not 10 minutes early.

  182. Sarah says:

I absolutely MUST be on time, all the time. Love this watch!

  183. Sam V. says:

I am always on time (even early most of the time)!

  184. Kathleen says:

I can pull myself together pretty quickly if I happen to be running late…i hate being late but sometimes it's unavoidable. Time has a way of moving really fast when I'm getting ready so I lose track of it. but…have an AMAZINGLY cool watch would certainly help me pay attention better!! 🙂

  185. Barbara says:

I haven't had a watch since my last one died. Yet no matter how early I get up, how quickly I get ready, or what time I leave the house, I am always late for work, rarely for much else. Think that's just a little Freudian?

  186. Lavina Chugh says:

The definition of Punctuality: The art of waiting for others who are unpunctual.

So let go. I belive in being fashionably late than being the stickler. 5 minutes late won't hurt anyone. Entering a party late grips the attention of the on-time geeks. Infact it adds a bit of drama to life, like this chic Michele watch would add drama to my life!!!

  187. Tracey says:

I'm sure I'm a tad late, but man, have I been craving a B&W Michelle watch lately. That one's a beaut! Am I too late?

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
