Dresses of a Certain Stripe

Apr 20, 2010

Miss M is obsessed with stripes.  Like, John Hinckley obsessed.  I once helped clean out her closet only to discover five of the same striped shirt in five different colors.  It was at the point that I drove her to a clinic and forced her into treatment.

I never understood her obsession with stripes until the simple pattern came back into vogue and fashion retailers started making adorable stripey dresses for Spring.  Here are some of favorites.

Macintosh Dress–also, in red (Spool No. 72, $52)

Hello, Good Day Dress (Anthropologie, $118)

Stripe Sailor Dress (Forever 21, $27)

Thread Social Striped One Shoulder Dress (ShopBop, $486)

GoJane.com has dresses similar to #1 for really cheap – I got one for about $20. It’s stylish and extremely comfortable.

  2. I adore the first & penultimate dresses!

Hi Belle! I absolutely ADORE the shopbop selection you posted. I immediately sent that link to my best friend… and we spent about 15 minutes drooling over it. The outfit is oustanding… down to the awesome shoes. This post reminded me of a Forever21 dress I have waiting for me in my wishlist!! https://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=dress&product_id=2070705555&variant_id=023&showBACK=OK I am dying to purchase it for the summer and add all sorts of colored belts and shoes to go with it.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
