Trend Alert: Ahoy There Mateys!

Jan 25, 2010

Be forewarned the nautical theme will be every where this spring.  This means you need to break out the horizontal stripes, the rope belts and the (gasp) deck shoes.  While there will never be topsiders on this blog, I wanted to give you a preview of some of the nautical inspired styles that you will be seeing at a retail shop near you.

Michael Stars Rivera Tee (Nordstrom, $56)

T-Bags Striped Cardigan (Net-a-Porter, $170)

Aerie Striped Boatneck (American Eagle, $19.50)

Ralph Lauren Rope Belt (Saks, $145)

Milly Rope Tunic Dress (ShopBop, $340)

So, are you going to embrace the nautical fashion? Or does this trend seem less trendy given that we are in the mid-atlantic region where seaside fashion has always been prevalent?

This is a trend that I actually like. It just speaks Spring to me.

  2. Lexi says:

I love that nautical is finally mainstream because after summers in Newport, I’d come back with navy blue attire and a rope bracelet and all I ever got were jokes about sailors and the Gorton fisherman! Hopefully this trend makes it back home to Wisconsin…

  3. EPA says:

I’ve seen this around, but not the dress – oh la la I want one! Can you do a congresswoman/staff/intern on that dress?!

  4. Natalie K says:

I LOVE the last dress. If you can make Sailor inspired outfits work…then GO FOR IT 🙂 Love your blog so much !

  5. Ms. B says:

Love the dress. Nice balance of navy and white – length perfect…semi-casual perfection.

  6. Belle says:

I can do a 10th Commandment on the dress, but it will be more successful if we wait a little longer. Not everyone has Spring stuff out yet.

  7. Susan says:

I never know what to wear on bottom with cute sailor-y tops. Any thoughts?

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
