The Golden Globes: Power Couples

Jan 18, 2010

At every awards show, there are the chic, power couples who make you so jealous you can barely see straight.  Oh, maybe that’s just me.  Either way, the only thing better than one hot celebrity is two hot celebrities.

I wasn’t crazy about Heidi’s dress or her rain afflicted coif, but you would be hard pressed to find a couple more handsome than Heidi Klum and Seal.  And if their abundance of good looks wasn’t enough, they always seem so happy and in love.  Frankly, it’s worrisome *wink*.

The shape of Anna Paquin’s dress was right-on, but the overwhelming metallic was all kinds of wrong.  As for those shoes, the look straight out of a Kafka novel.  As for her fiance, Stephen Moyer, I know he needs those mutton chops for his role on True Blood, but I have never warmed up to them.

I don’t know who Alicia Bachljeda is (I assume she’s Collin’s significant other), but damn that is a good looking woman.  I mean, how many women can make a simple navy strapless look like most amazing dress in the room?  As for Collin, sobriety looks good on the former bad boy.  Here’s hoping that his career looks a lot more like his performance in In Bruges and less like his over hyped turn in Alexander.

What? Alfre Woodard and her daughter, Mavis Spencer, qualify as a couple.  Technically.

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy always look so relaxed on the Red Carpet.  If you didn’t know better, you would think that they just rolled out of bed and threw on formal wear.

And my favorite couple of the night…the dynamic duo…

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski look smashing.  Thanks to John, the navy tuxedo is now on the menu for the Oscar’s.  Also, Emily Blunt’s blush colored gown has a fitted shape and the softness of cotton candy.  Her accessories are also lovely, imparting the right amount of sparkle without looking overdone.  Also, if you haven’t seen The Young Victoria, you should.

Young Victoria was an amazing film. I did a review here https://districtcut.com/2009/12/style-report-young-victoria.html.
And I definitely think John Krasinski looks great. He does formal in such an effortless way, it makes me jealous. Plus, Emily Blunt is a real beauty.

I always think it’s funny when people send rude or overly personal questions when I put […]

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.

In the name of fiscal responsibility, I’m taking a shopping respite through the end of the year.  When you write a fashion blog, not shopping is like being a person on a diet who moves into a McDonald’s.  But I’m determined to flex some self-discipline now that my holiday shopping is done.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
