Every year, I feature the same puffer coat on this blog. I tell you that it is the warmest coat I have ever owned. That my Mom has ever owned. And that every winter, our pricey Canada Goose, North Face and Columbia coats collect dust in our closets in favor of this <$75 puffer coat.
Understanding that we live in those Northern Rockies, cold weather climates where negative temperatures or wet, cold winters are the norm, should earn us some credibility in this area. Additionally, the last time my Mom was warm was in 1969. She wears a bathrobe around the house, over her clothing from September to April. If she says this coat keeps the chill out, believe her.
So if you need a warm casual coat for weekend errands, kids outdoor sports, or a Turkey Trot, this is the one for you.
This Amazon Essentials coat comes in seven colors. It also runs size XS to 6X. I am a size 6-8, and my small “fits” as long as I’m wearing light layers. Over a sweater, I need the medium.
This year, because I am preparing to stay outside for a holiday light show and Santa cruise (Seriously, a boat, on a lake, in the mountain in December, great idea.), I bought this extra long version, which is sold out in almost every size and color way (but has high availability in plus sizes).
Don’t need a coat rated for Montana-strength winters? A friend in SF owns their lightweight puffer in the short and long lengths and sings its praises as well.
I know that I probably post this coat to frequently for some of you. But I am an evangelist for this coat. Just hand me a set of Tammy Faye eyelashes and a special on TNN, and I will sell this coat to the masses of women, shivering on the sidelines of soccer games and while waiting in line at Costco the day before Thanksgiving. Polyester, it’s a miracle product.
So, as expected, when Sloane needed a winter coat, this is the one I purchased. (If only they made the grown up version in this gorgeous teal.) They also have other colors in the “boys” version.
