Best Purchases of 2023: The Pants

Dec 19, 2023

As we close out another year, I wanted to review my five best clothing purchases of 2023.  The purchases that I was glad I made, could not have lived without, and recommended to absolutely everyone.  Let’s start the year in review.

Technically, I bought these at the end of 2022, but I wore them so much this year, they belong to 2023.

These NYDJ Sculpt Her Pull-On Wide Legs were almost all I wore during the Legislative Session.  They were a fantastic pant for any number of reasons, but they were especially great for my post-pregnancy needs.  The pants smooth and lift, but they’re not constricting.  The material is comfortable and washes up well.  They are true to size, and also available in sizes up to 5x.

I wore them with the Sculpt Her blazer.  Both pieces are on deep discount at Nordstrom right now, so you could get a new, comfortable suit for under-$175.  If you only need a suit occasionally, this is a great option.

The Beauty Edit: Neck Creams

Nora Ephron was right: I feel bad about my neck. As I move through my forties, the creases have turned into chasms. The skin sags like a pair of sweatpants with aging elastic. It’s not great. But it’s just a natural part of getting older. Over the past year, it feels like I’ve tried every […]
