The Find: Comfortable Black Flats

Back when I was a young intern, I would come home at night and soak my feet, treat my blisters, and wonder why no one made a pair of shoes comfortable enough to wear while giving a Capitol tour.  Fifteen years later, comfort is even more important.  I am just too old to have sore feet.  So when I find a comfortable pair of shoes, I tell everyone.

I’ve gone back and forth with Cole Haan for years.  I had an amazing pair of heels.  So I bought a pair of their Nike Air shoes, they made my feet fall asleep.  I snapped up a pair of fabulous loafers, only to buy a replacement pair that lost their sole within a month.  It’s been a real fashion rollercoaster.

So when I stopped to try on a pair of their Grand Ambition Pointy Toe Flats at my local store this weekend, I wasn’t expecting a lot.  But as I strolled around the shoe section, I was really impressed by the support, the flexibility and the comfort.  It felt like I was wearing sneakers.  (I plan to grab them in the animal print for an upcoming trip.)

There’s a reason that these flats are selling out.  If they’re gone in your size from Nordstrom, try Saks or Cole Haan.  Cole Haan’s Grand Ambition collection also makes a pump and (God love them) a wedge.  Campaign trail warriors, that wedge is like an answered prayer.

You know that I love my Rothy’s, and I could not live without them.  But sometimes, you just need a leather shoe.
