Well, I spoke too soon. I spent most of last week sick to my stomachh, which was an utter delight. But I am working my way back to living, so let’s start again and talk about the flat shoes (not sneakers, not sandals) that I wear most often.

These A. Soliani Como Flats are one of the best things in my closet. The chocolate brown/black combination makes them a versatile choice for office wear, since they blend with black and brown. If this isn’t the combo for you, this almond-toe style comes in every color you can imagine. After I wrote about my love for this pair, the brand gifted me this muted green pair, which is also fantastic.
These flats are comfortable enough to wear for a shoe with no built in support. If you need more arch support, this Vionic flat is similar in color and style.

I needed a pair of loafers that I could wear with almost anything, and these Franco Sarto leopard ones turned out to be my favorite fall loafers. They’re great with denim, with black pants, even with a casual dress. I like that they have no hardware, which is tough to find now that horse bit loafers are everywhere.

These slingbacks from M.Gemi are fantastic. I have them in the light blue color and they are phenomenal — just neutral enough, just cool enough. The cut of the vamp and the wider slingback strap make them very stylish. My one recommendation is that before you wear them, you hit them with the suede protectant.

How did you know that I needed new flats?! Your recs are always right on time. Thank you!
Thank you for posting chic flats! Do you have additional recommendations for styles with a strap or buckle? I have a narrow heel and can quite literally step out of ballet flats, loafers, or even the occasional slingback unless there is an ankle strap or Mary Jane type strap.
A Soliani makes several styles with a buckle. Sam Edelman also has cute ones with straps and buckles.
