Styles of the Past: Bags of the 2010s

May 5, 2026

I don’t know how I am sicker today than yesterday, but here I am. My voice is shot. I sound like I’m trying to take over Toon Town. The coughing is so violent. Lord. But enough about my problems, let’s talk about fashion, specifically styles of the past.

I have always enjoyed window shopping, it’s why I started a blog. If I was going to spend my downtime scrolling the Internet looking at clothes, I might as well turn it into a hobby. So last night, as I lied in bed devouring a bag of cough drops, I scrolled The Real Real remembering the styles of my glory days, the early 2010s. Here are a few bags of that era that are very affordably priced, capturing peak nostalgia with a bit of style.

Who didn’t want a Sophie Hume bag in 2012? Sadly, Sophie closed her namesake brand in 2020 to focus on her health following a diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. But her styles live on at The Real Real for an unbelievable price. The magazine satchel is still sublime, but I am also loving this chic bucket bag.

Alexa Chung was everywhere and so was her namesake Mulberry bag. While I preferred the Bayswater style, all the cool girls wanted an Alexa. Still a phenomenal bag, you can snag one for under $600 (or under $250) on TRR. It’s the bag all the cool Moms bring to drop off.

This one might be more late-aughts than early 2010s, but, my heavens, do I have nostalgia for this one. Last week, I was cleaning out my closet when I saw a dust bag tucked on the top shelf. I didn’t remember putting anything in a dust bag, so I pulled it off the shelf unsure what I would find, and there she was: my 2009 Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag. Purchased on Gilt Groupe (RIP) during a frenzied noontime sale. She looked a little worse for wear, but she was deeply loved.

You can find a classic MAB on The Real Real for under-$50, which might make it a fun gift for a tween or teen who is into 00s core. I also like this tote with the twisted leather handle. And this slightly more modern shape looks just as good today as it did back then.

So what is your nostalgia bag? The one you just had to have? Leave it in the comments.

Hoping someone listened to your lungs to make sure you don’t have pneumonia. Feel better soon!

I love this question…Longchamp was my go to in the 2010s with all of my travel at the time – I have pink, navy, and bright blue still, and they are all back in rotation! Ha! I did have a gorgeous eggplant colored tote and I have no idea what happened to it…I still think my sister took it!

Kate Spade was always a love of mine…there was a pink flamingo bag in the mid 2010s that was a compliment magnet. My boyfriend was in awe, I had at least 3 girls tell me they loved it every time we were out and about!

I also had a Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC crossbody (influenced by you, I’m sure!) in matte black that was the ultimate going out bag. And a tiny Dooney&Bourke eggplant colored croc bag that fit my Razr and a card case and maybe my small digital camera and that was it.

I just hope my two (little) girls love purses as much as I do because they’ll have a lot to pick from in their teen years!

I never had the MAB bag but I did have some sort of Rebecca Minkoff diaper bag that I just used as a work bag way before I ever had kids. I am pretty sure you recommended it! It held up amazingly well for years. My other nostalgia bag is a baby blue Botkier.
