17 years. That is how long I have been writing this blog. And over those many posts, some of my recommendations have stood the test of time. Because everyone is more mindful of their spend these days, I wanted a space where I could focus on the purchases that I am still using 5, 10, 15 years later. Let’s start with Lo & Sons OG2.
Very few products hold up to the level of wear that an OG2 bag from Lo & Sons can take. I have carried this bag on every plane ride and long car trip that I have taken for a decade. I have used it as a gym bag. It was my hospital bag when Sloane was born.
I have pulled these zippers thousands of time. I have spilled on this bag. I have filled it to the brim with sharp-cornered things. Squish it, slam it, smash it, the hardware, the lining, and the exterior all still look as good as the day I bought it.
Also, if you never made the switch from the OG1, let me tell you that the zipper relocation on OG2 makes the laptop easier to take in and out and was a noticeable improvement for me.
One of the things that I love most about this bag is that it has no exterior branding, no logos, and just blends seamlessly into any outfit. Simple, classic, pure utility.
Additionally, the bag is so light. If you have to pack it full, it doesn’t get too heavy. The lightness makes it a great bag for seniors who might find a leather bag too heavy. Alternatively, a friend bought one for her 16-year-old daughter, and she loves it also.

I’ve had this bag for 5+ years and don’t use it as often as I used to, but it definitely fills a hole in my luggage/tote bag collection that no other bag can fill. I will say, I do find it gets heavy when stuffed!

Bought it years ago on your recommendation (even though they didn’t ship to Canada at the time and it was a huge pain to get) and it’s been my primary work bag since – so light, so functional, so resilient! And looks as good as all of the leather bags in the courtroom. Best investment.
I love the lo&sons Brookline bag. As you note it really stands up to the wear of travel and looks great and is light weight. I returned my OG because the zipper opening was not very wide and made getting stuff in and out of it hard. But they do make a durable goo looking product!
Which size do you recommend (M or L)?
Also curious if you have the medium or large.
I have the Large. But I have also owned the medium. If you don’t need to pack shoes, lunch or files, the medium is good enough.
Just a heads up this item isn’t shipping until late March. That wasn’t advertised when I purchased right after Abra posted on Feb. 14.
I completely agree, and thank you for finding Lo & Sons long ago! I have had one of their laptop bags for over a decade, and it’s going strong with heavy use. I also have the OG and use it less heavily, but I also used it as a hospital bag!

Depends on what you need to haul. IF you have a simple laptop and nothing much else, M. If you have laptop, shoes, lunch, you need the L
I got mine on Poshmark after your recommendation — it has a little duct tape around one of the straps and it STILL holds up. (The original seller did a good job matching the color of the strap and I never notice it!)

Yes! I learned about the OG from you like…13 years ago. And I had it until one of the straps broke, and Lo&Sons replaced it for free with an OG2. I think the OG2 is slightly smaller, but I completely agree on the laptop zipper. It’s the best bag and I use it every time I travel.
This bag has been with me from my first leadership job, all the way to the executive suite. It was a gift to myself on your recommendation and it has served me well for over 8 years. I haven’t upgraded to the OG2 so my only complaint is the lean to one side, but that isn’t enough to try something else. It’s unobtrusive yet sleek. 5 stars.
Agreed — it’s the best. Bought one 10+ years ago on your recommendation, and that one worked great. I only replaced it because the straps’ edges had started to fray, and I wanted to try the OG2. Totally worth it at full price, but a no-brainer when on sale!
