Good Morning, and Happy Tuesday. Last week was a long one here in Olympia, and as I write this from the airport, after a too short visit to see Sloane, I am at a loss for words. So let’s just jump into the fashion because what else are we here for?

Blazer // Shirt // Pants // Scarf // Shoes // Bag // Earrings // Ring // Nail Polish

Several of my colleagues in Washington occasionally wear ties with their suits.  It’s such a chic look, but I just don’t think I can pull off.  Then, I see someone, like the woman in the photo really making it work, and I get a little jealous.  But even if the tie is not for you, the color palette should be — the olive, peridot, and burgundy look so chic.  Let’s rebuild it.

This blazer from Belle & Bloom has a versatile black and white plaid, and it’s the kind of cool, classic piece that is trendy some years, but can stay in your closet after the trend passes.  The black in the plaid grounds the look and makes it neutral, while the white keeps it from becoming too heavy.  If you need a blazer <$75, this one from Nordstrom Rack is nice.  Plus-size?  Try this blazer from Agnes Devine.

Do we need to talk about the white button-up?  I didn’t think so.  We’re elder millennial, most of us own this staple by now.  But if you need a solid choice, Quince is good and I like BR Factory as well.

The olive pants are an unexpected choice here.  The olive offers a bit of color, but without distracting from the neutral palette.  I chose these MM LaFleur pants because their Origami Tech is great for long work days or travel.  If you’re looking for a budget option, Banana Republic has a pair.

To punch up the olive pants and blend the neutral jacket into the olive bottoms, the stylish influencer in the photo added a pale peridot tie.  As mentioned above, I’m not bold enough to wear a tie, so let’s try a scarf in a similar hue instead.  If you want to try a menswear tie, this one is very close in color.

For that extra pop of color, the influencer added a burgundy purse.  A clutch won’t let me haul my laptop to and fro, so I chose this Demellier bag.  This is a phenomenal bag, but if you want something in the under-$250 range, JW Pei has a cool, sculptural bag in a rich wine color.

For the accessories, I chose a simple earring because I wanted the other jewelry, this incredible floral ring, to stand out.  The ring makes a statement that is both pretty and chic.  And because the ring is so distinct, why not try a nail polish that gives you a subtle pop of pale color.  The Illuminating Nail Concealer nourishes nails, while adding a bit of shimmer and brightness.  It’s the perfect thing for women who can’t wear color at work, but don’t love bare nails.
