I have leaned heavily on my navy suit to get me through this session. Most mornings, I find myself standing in front of my closet, just throwing things together in a rush, and I’m always surprised how many things I can pair with navy. So here are a few of my favorites.

Suit. The navy suit is from Express. The quality is good, but not excellent. For the price, I don’t think you can do better. The pants (not shown) are comfortable and easy to wear. If you need suits sometimes, but not often, these are a nice option at a price point that fits into any budget.
Varley Sweater // C. Paravano Flats // Monica Vinader Necklace
Monday. The peridot hue of this Varley sweater is so chic. I bought this one and a similar one in cashmere for fall, and I will wear this color twelve months per year. It blends beautifully with navy, where it looks a little severe with black.
To soften the green a bit, I would mix a pale blue necklace. I have a dramatic Ann Taylor fashion necklace that I love so much, but I haven’t found a great copy. Until I do, this Monica Vinader has a great natural look in a great soft blue.
Aligne Janis Blouse // Marc Fisher Flats // Mignone Gavigan Earrings
Wednesday. If you’re a little afraid of color, a tone-on-tone look is the way to go. Here, I mixed light blue with navy with a gentle softness. You can also add a dark teal option, like this Elie Tahari blouse. And blue-on-blue is a great choice for days when you have a closet full of nothing to wear. Garanimals for grown ups.
Beyond that, I wanted to bring in a contrasting color, but I didn’t want a bright red. These burgundy shoes are a nice option. Your other choices would be to go into the green family or the orange family.
Veronica Beard Ashlynn Top // Stuart Weitzman Pumps // Heaven Mayhem Drops
Friday. Suit and blouse might seem a strange Friday option for some of you, but I am in office, in session, so every day is Groundhog’s Day. I love the mix of colors in this Veronica Beard blouse, which is blissfully discounted right now. The blue flowers blend the black and rust into the navy blue suit really beautifully.
If you’re not into florals, 1970s inspired chain prints (think DvF in the days of disco) are everywhere right now. This L’Agence blouse is a great option. In the <$100 price point, Ralph Lauren and his equestrian cosplay always has something.
Beyond that, a simple black shoe and simple accessories should let the blouse shine. If you are trying to up the style quotient in your wardrobe, look at prints instead of solids, because a chic print is always a little bit more interesting.
