The Range: Closed Toe Summer Shoes

Jun 27, 2025

For some of us, open toe shows at work are still not an option. Maybe that’s because we commute on dirty subway platforms. Maybe it’s because we work in a stodgy industry. Or maybe we just don’t want the pressure to always have a fresh pedicure. Either way, here are a few options for ladies who need to hide those piggies away.

The open work keeps these Chico’s Cutout Ballet Flats looking summery, while the simple style makes them an easy wear for the office. Also in white.

These gold shoes from Boden look so much like my favorite pair of shoes from the mid-2010s. I keep putting them in my cart, and, well, today’s the day I pull the trigger.

One of my acquaintances is a reported with that Brooklyn aesthetic, so she wears a lot of loafers. She recently asked me to help find her a summer shoe, and she ended up choosing these Journee woven front flats with the open sides.

If you want a very casual shoe, these canvas espadrilles from Aerosoles are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. I also love a little lift.

If the espadrilles are too casual, but you like the look of a natural fibre, try these slingbacks from J.Crew Factory. They have a cool, higher end look, and they’re great for summer.

If you’re not into the idea of buying shoes for a single season, these Vince ballet-flat-slingbacks can be worn in spring, summer and fall. They have a cool shape and come in lots of great colors.

What shoes do you love for summer? Leave them in the comments for your fellow office dwellers.
